Fish all have different bite times based on lure and such. This fish just bites this blue-scrip lure faster then the other fish at that location. This allows you to pull your hook and recast if it does not bite. This has always been the case for fishing. This specific fish just happens to be the good fish, where it is usually a garbage fish that bites first. You also need to get blue scrips to get the lure for this particular method.

I do not think it is an exploit, but I expect it to be patched as it actually creates gil. 10k from an NPC item is not something that should be this easy. They will either increase the bite time, or remove platinum coins from this fish.

I will give you another example.

Using one of the other blue-scrip lures you can catch a blue-scrip fish or a desynthable fish that can give you a TIV materia or seaborne aethersands. These fish are also all-day fishes just like the one in the OP. Essentially you can farm these two fish all day long gaining blue scrips, TIV materia to transmute for TV materia, and potentially lucrative seaborne aethersands. One would argue that this is more of an exploit as it is a self-sustaining loop. You fish and get the scrips you need to keep fishing while also getting the fish you want to desynth. I do this btw, but I do not fish the platinum coin fish. Not because of it being an exploit, but because I want a TV materia lol.

In a way SE is making money off of this too, as people are buying these platinum coins so that they can server transfer with more gil on them. This is essentially creating gil on the server they move too and not the server they are fished on as well.

nah not a bug, it seems very fair the big trouble on that method is the waste of gathering scripts for the giant crane fly bait , the inefficiency on the desynth (50% sucess without buff, 65% at most with buff) and the low rate of platinum got from those fish (around 15% to get platinum) , and burn on cordials to keep getting it bite hq.

Why do you need it to be in hq? I thought it didn't affect the desynth.
