For those who don`t get the problem with red scrips...

Imagine this.

You have your weekly 450 esoteric tomes right?


Now, imagine you only get 20 of them each time you kill the final boss ONLY on expert roulette. So you have to run dungeons about 15-16 times. There is no other way to get esoterics than this.

Now, your esoterics CAN`T be traded for gear right away, but instead, tokens, 50 tomes each token, and then you trade those for gear, 26 tokens the weapon, 18 armor, 9 head and hands, 7 feet and legs, 2 the accesories. OR you can use 450 tokens to pay your entrance, to savage mode.

Also, if you wan`t to get esoteric tomes, you need to use law tomes (only got by dungeons too) to buy "favors" and have a small windown on where you have to get into the right dungeon via roulette or you won`t get any esoteric.

Sounds like fun? Well, that is, red scrips for the people who isn`t into crafting and gathering.

Oh, it totally is. Let's assume nothing will change for a sec. Even on the most populated servers, we wouldn't even have 1 of every new item up for sale in half a year from now. Oh and the sales history would be 0 forever because these would be 100 million minimum if not 300 million+.

I'm honestly still recovering from the abysmal rates of trying to get enough Blue Scripts for my fishing folklore tomes, (only 15k more scripts to go, and at about 40-48 per fish IF it's large enough, I should be there soon, right?), so I'm just going to pretend that these Red Scripts are a myth that haven't been implemented yet until they get patched down, particularly since fishers like me seem to have the rawest end of the stick in regards to them.....

All this wouldn't be so bad if I ONLY fished, but I'm still trying to get through Alexander, run dungeons with friends, level crafters from time to time, AND I'm trying to work on a comprehensive lvl 60 MCH guide at the moment that will require the collection of a lot of raw data, (even harder since Lead Shot's DoT damage doesn't show up in the log window, and as a PS4 player I have to manually keep track of numbers when calculating DPS). Frankly, they've got it set up so that only the players who exclusively craft and gather have any hope of getting the high end items for quite a long time to come, and even then many of them won't be getting them without a lot of free time on their hands......

But seriously, I understand gating gear in mmos, but come on too much can become too much. I play this game to have fun, not work. I would be okay with this expect for the crafting (I've only heard of horrors stories personally from ingame friends...sounds so bad) with the gear gates IF this was a normal mmo, 1 battle class, and a 1 or 2 crafting/gathering professions PER CHARACTER. But FFXIV is NOT a normal mmo when you can have one character that can do everything, making steep gear gating a dumb idea in several levels.

Whats intriguing about this entire Red Scrip complaint is that in the Master Book 3s of their respective crafts, you can craft the ilvl180 stuff. I IMAGINE this gating is only to get started. After that, Red scrip won't be as necessary.
