So, I've been doing a fair amount of Frontlines, and between the queue times and inability to play with most of my friends I've found most of the issues are related to the GC system being forced for PvP. Thinking about it though... how can we do a Frontlines style PvP without the Grand Companies?
Bard-Story PvP.
Essentially they'd be a series of 24v24 (32v32 if the system can support it) PvP maps similar to Frontlines; the lore being that the Bard is retelling the epic battles of the past.
For example; one such story could be the Battle of Carteneau (Frontlines). Players would see themselves and allies as Eorzeans, and the enemy team would be seen as Garleans. Thus no need for GC separation. This would be your general hold-the-point or king-of-the-hill style PvP match.
Others could be Attack/Defense PvP with one side taking the role of Drowned or Tempered in the "Bard's Story".
Essentially, PvP through reenactment.
