Is this game going to work on Windows 10 when it releases?
Or for that matter has anyone played it on a Windows 10 build already? Since Windows 10 is the hot new thing about to drop.
I want to upgrade but want to make sure this game works first.

Official response is they will confirm compatibility mid-August, or later if issues are discovered.
So upgrading before they official confirm the game supports Windows 10 is at our own risk.
There's a major windows update on the way, one which everyone will receive for free, and SE couldn't bother to do their best to have their game work on it at launch? It doesn't seem like what most companies would do.
I will upgrade nonetheless. Let's hope it works, but if it does not, there are many things I can play meanwhile.
Everyone will receive it for free it they choose to upgrade, otherwise SE doesn't have to have it supported at launch cause it not listed as a supported OS at least not yet.
The version of Windows 10 that was released today wasn't even finalised until about 2 weeks ago (which is why there's a slight delay in shipping new computers direct from manufacturers as they didn't have it either to get it integrated/installed). Up until that point W10 was constantly being modified so from SE's point of view they probably didn't want to spend too many resources on compatibility for a product that was still changing.
That being said, their statement about Windows 10 support was released a week ago and said "We are currently performing operation verifications". We don't actually know at what point they started their testing. For all we know they've been working on this a long time, but until the final version actually got released they couldn't be 100% sure about anything.
It's in their interest to fully support Windows 10 so I'm sure they'll do it as fast as they can and as they've said they're hoping to get it done by around middle of August (3 weeks). You've got a year to upgrade and given that an operating system change is a pretty big deal it can be worth waiting at least a few weeks for software/applications to become compatible, but if you don't mind having some potential early adopter problems you can of course upgrade now, that's up to you.
Don't worry, I'm running W10 since build 9926 and the game has been working with no issues at all.
That's encouraging. I assume it would work because Windows is typically good with legacy support, I think there's more UI and services changes than underlying tech change in this release, but it's good to have your confirmation that we can safely upgrade on day 1 without there being some major issue that makes the game stop working lol.
The only "issue" I have is that the launcher doesn't save the UserID even if you tick the checkbox, so you have to write it everytime you open the game. But other than that, as I said, it works really well. That's encouraging. For reference: i5-3570k, AMD R9 290 (tried with Catalyst 15.6, 15.7 and the latest WU drivers), 8 GB RAM.
Thanks a lot for the confirmation. It's good to know the game will work right off the bat, even if we don't receive any official confirmation yet.
I'm currently waiting to get win10. FF14 working is good but it's not the only game i run and there's also my internet security.
When life gives you lemons, cry yourself to sleep, and tell all your friends.
