I'm actually torn on what weapon to get first >_<. I intended to get the weapon for my scholar, but I've grown fond of my Ast as well :c. But I may just end up getting my scholar book 1st.....I think

Don't know much about Scholar healing, do you. Crit is how they make up for the lack general healing over White Mage's collection of healing spells (though White Mages need just as much piety to feed those spells). I say going with crit gear over the book was a smart decision.
The value of secondary stats has been reduced dramatically.
It's not a good decision. Crit is the best secondary for sch by a mile, but it still gets blown out of the water by weapon damage.Don't know much about Scholar healing, do you. People can get whatever they want, no skin off my back. But if they're trying to get the most effective upgrade then it's the weapon, hands down.
When in doubt, assume sarcasm
Thing is ALL of your gear should be helping your bigger picture, not just armor. If your weapon is the highest iL but has not one stat that's actually useful then it's not really working with you. It's just looking pretty. I don't need pretty, I need useful. And clearly I'm not alone in this sentiment.
I'm getting Body then legs then rest of left hand side then accessories. I'm not getting the wep cause I will end up dumping it by 3.1. When new "relic" starts. So I'm gearing for Alex Sav
I knew right away I was going for the AST Chest Piece. Got it last night - it's awesome haha. Next I'll go for the head piece and then start saving up for the weapon.
Sure. My static was only able to go in to savage A1 on Sunday for the whole first week (someone changed jobs and has to go through training at his new job while still working at his old job for 2 weeks, we raid as a team and I don't believe in "finding replacements") and we got the oppressors to about 45% in around an hour and a half. We beat Faust on our 6th pull. Our healers are pretty good and haven't had any problems keeping me alive yet, except for beginning progression and learning when things were happening. Both me and the WAR in my group collectively talked about this with our entire group, and the vote was unanimous for all tanks/DPS to get weapon first for more DPS. As long as my healers are confident, and their performance reflects that I will gladly up my DPS to push faster. You saw my lodestone I take it since you knew my gear. Did you look at my accs? In party I have 890 STR and 880 VIT. Upgrading my weapon will give me a considerable boost to an already very large DPS potential.
I have over 2000 defense in party and A4 NM tank buster still hits me by 4-4.5k a pop unmitigated. The extra 40-80 defense I would gain from getting the body piece just doesn't sound like as good of an investment to me. And we already know the DPS checks are very real in savage, with Tank DPS being included in the needed formula.
I mean, I do still plan on getting the body piece with Eso next. But the first 2 turns of Savage were cleared by people who have 2 weeks worth of drops from Alex NM and the rest i180. No one had better than an i180 body piece during those first clears. I think with the few days a week my team will be able to go for the first 2-3 weeks of savage Alex, I will be ok with my Law/Alex NM body piece.
I feel like this would have been a decent response if I was making the claim to get my Dark Knight body before the weapon. The Dark Knight AF gear looks amazing and I can't wait to have it all, even if some of it is glamoured because it isn't as good as the savage gear. But your snide attempt at a jab towards my potential reasoning only succeeded in making you look ridiculous. Have fun with your assumptions; embellish how it makes you appear.
Gonna go with chestpiece because it looks dapper as hell, I actually really like the SCH set, I will be getting chest first, then gloves, then hat, then boots, then pants, I will probably just ignore belt, accessories and weapon.
We are gonna be getting a new relic quest soon enough, will wait for that instead, no real interest in Alex Savage atm.
