They only thing annoying about dragoon is when you pop BoD just before the Boss goes invulnerable and your stuck with it on cooldown

Isn't it five? HT ID CT FC and whats the other one?Dragoon has four now. The new two are random, meaning after you use your third combo attack you may have to attack from the rear for full potency or from the flank. It's still not really 'hard', but I don't personally don't find monk difficult either. Also, monk loses a lot less potency than dragoon or ninja when it misses a positional, but that's a complaint for another thread~
Impulse Drive doesn't have a positional anymore. :O Unless I'm losing my mind, they moved it to Chaos Thrust.
That sucks on black mage with Enochian too.Luckily, most bosses have predictable phase changes or percentages or time elapsed where they do things like that, so you will get better with more experience with the encounter.
I find Dragoon trickier than the other melee dps I play but its mainly because the RNG in the positional and the fact that Blood of the Dragon is much more difficult to manage than GL simply because DRG lacks good methods of picking it up again if mechanics or an error causes it to fall off without waiting for the full 60 second CD to finish. If you've just popped it and the boss does a mechanic that makes it impossible to hit for say about 10 seconds, your looking at over 30 seconds with a pretty punishing DPS loss. The stance system MNKs use also allow MNKs a bit more flexibility in being able to use other skills mid combo. If dodging things means there is a break in the flow of your rotation as DRG you can have Heavy Thrust drop off before your rotation completes resulting in a DPS loss.
Having said all that, I don't think DRG is too difficult. In fact the gameplay the class has I find quite enjoyable. I can understand though why some would find if very frustrating as it isn't very forgiving of errors.
I don't know why people keep bringing up the positional requirement. It just makes other classes mock the drgs and I personally don't have an issue with the positionals, especially after the reduced penalty. I have a bigger problem than that.
But first...if I am to describe it...BotD is like a monk only being able to gain their very first GL stack IF they're under PB. If they accidentally drop their GL, dragon kick is unusable until they have a GL stack again (which is not until PB is up again). Yes, PB is much longer than BotD but that's the best comparison I came up with.
Like ok, that's something, you shouldnt ever drop it in the first place, you should know how to time it against phase changes, etc. I can accept that. But there's another skill that drgs need to push against the edge of the botd timer to be at their best. This OGCD reduces the botd timer by 10 seconds. Imagine having an ogcd skill that you're encouraged to use as much as possible but cuts your GL timer by 8 seconds. From the first activation of botd that grants 15 seconds, you're supposed to cut 10 seconds and then include at least 2 gcds to be able to extend your botd and then repeat that at every combo (botd >> 3rd hit > GK > 4th hit).
Try as I might, I cannot do this on the first opening combo without botd just dropping dead before I was able to extend it. Could be my 280 latency and exactly the 2.40 gcd required. It's a bit frustrating because it's either I figure out if it's really the super strict timing (0.2 seconds with 280 latency factor?) or just play with much fewer GK usage than what is optimal, which is pretty lame.
Then again, I haven't seen many drgs who use GK frequently in my extreme roulettes and alex normal runs. Cant focus on the others when I fight ravana so...
Sorry, but drg isn't as annoying as monk. Just due to the fact that greased lightning is ridiculously easy to drop, and monks always have positional crap as well. All while doing so on a shorter GCD.
Also...+1 for troll OP Title
This should help with BoD and Geirskogul.
3.0 Beginners Dragoon Rotation.
Unfortunately play with a Ps4 controller so.. I need a better way to lay out crosshair macros for Dragoon so I can keep track of important timers.
A dummy and boss are entirely different beasts, however. 3 GKs a minute doesn't translate well to A1, 3, or 4 most of the time. You usually have to be very aware of upcoming phase transitions to judge whether or not to GK or reapply BotD, but there's still stuff(like quarantine or ferrofluid) that you can't account for. This should help with BoD and Geirskogul.
