    Red Scrips

Maybe I misunderstood the whole point of scrips. I thought it was supposed to be an alternate method of getting gathering and crafting gear (while saving Gil) but the fact that it takes 8-9 weeks just to gear one class seems a bit ridicules to me.

I also find it odd that it takes scrips to get the mats necessary to craft the normal gear anyway so most people that plan on leveling most if not all of their crafting and gathering classes will spend it on materials. I mean, to me it looks like another wall they put up on crafting and gathering when I thought the whole point was to make it easier for the average Joe crafter/gatherer to get to that point where they can make the stuff they want to make.

    tl,dr
Scrips are used for favors to collect materials and not for actual gear progression.

I personally think it's good. Theoretically it should allow more people to make money on stuff as theres a limit as to how much people can gather or make. Since there isn't an unlimited supply of 1 and 2 star mats. Whether or not it works we have to wait and see.

I can't speak from experience and I know the intent of crafted gear was never meant to be as good as raid gear but I've been seeing words like, "useless" and "pointless" being tossed around to describe current high level crafted Disciples of War and Magic gear. All because of the effort needed to get them crafted because of that restriction to scrips. You need people to buy the stuff otherwise there isn't any money being made.

First of all 1 stars are unlimited mat-wise. Secondly you can't make money from 2 stars because you'll have to sell these at 100 million+ each as that is the minimum they are worth in time and effort.

Therefore there is no money to be made.

Well, the problem with Red Scrips is twofold. First there is the problem that the gear you trade the scrip tokens for directly is beyond worse than the gear you obtain through crafting it yourself. Secondly, the gear you craft yourself costs more time and effort than the traded gear, so much time and effort that people are estimating the gear is worth millions upon millions of gil before even beginning to meld it simply due the time sink. The idea originally was that hardcore crafters could do things "quick and dirty" while casuals could do things slower but with assured results, what ended up happening is that hardcore crafters can do things "horribly long and grindy with no end goal" and casual crafters can do things "horribly longer and less grindy with no end goal."

Red Scrips gear is actually really good and only beaten by hq crafted with melds.

Actually is not really good, nor is HQ melded.

Both are doomed to become obsolete by 3.1, that is, 2-3 months from here. By then, most people will only have 1 or 2 pieces of i170 or crafted i180, which will either take this stupid nonsensical progression or the gil sink only a few ones can take. So no, they are not worth even be gotten as they are now. Even if by 3.1 they just add more 2 star recipes and save the 3-star/artisan set for 3.2, you already can get the stats to craft anything with just the i150 (chimerical) so, the worse part of all the red scrip stupid system is that is not even usefull.

Red Script reward gear is better than entry level 60, not as good as red scrip mat, crafted gear.
The problem I see is the gate to red script requires you be able to make the entry level 60 blind folded, as such make the red script mat gear.

The way they engineered it with lock outs, any one who is collecting red scripts can by default ignore the turn in gear. If there had been lower criteria to get red scripts, there might be a desire to take the 'easy out' and accept the reward stuff. That's not the case.

So who else is ready to spend another exciting 24+ hours of running around in circles of mindless gathering after reset tonight? I know I am, because the only thing running through my mind is, "Kill me now."
