    A Use for Classes.

Heard me out before you rage.
    1. Make raids Job-only.
    2. Introduce cross-class skills that aren't tied to any class but are instead learned from Grimoires, Allagan Tomestones, ... etc. (i.e. "skill books") which are acquired from quests, vendors, dropped from NMs and appear in their own classless category - they are of course for use by specific classes only.

What is the point? Decking out Classes can be another activity you can do in the game. You have a nigh free hand in how you want to configure your class.

Since raids will be Job-only, which they already are in practice, balance with Classes with their high degree of freedom when it comes to configuration won't be an issue. SE can go wild with cross-class skills. Who cares if it ends up a tad broken? No one is going to be kicked out of their static's raiding group.

People hate this because they are afraid they wouldn't be let into parties because of not having some skills.
I like this idea. It worked like this in old L2 and it was nice.
Just gives some new sense of progression to your character.

Well ... what kind of party could they possibly be excluded from?

DF dungeons? Those are easy enough even if you go in with the bare minimum iLv and barely know your Job's abilities.
Hunt groups? Do people even care in such groups?

The only type of group that is very selective about their members are static raid groups. But since only-Jobs with fixed set of abilities will be able to enter those raids, cross-class skills aren't an issue - other than the 1-4 mandatory ones that everyone already has.

Only raid statics and in my opinion that is completely fine. It is always better to learn min maxing before raiding.
