Left Bumber as a 3rd skill bar

Don't know if its ever been mentioned before.. but since Heavensward we all have new actions that clearly don't fit on the skill bar when playing on controller..
And iv'e noticed that when you hold down the LB (i know its used for auto run when you tap it) it does nothing with the D-pad and A, B, X, Y buttons..
So why not make an extra skill bar for the newer skills with the redundant LB..
    What ya think??

LB(L1) and up/down on the D-pad cycles through the enemy list. LB(L1) + A, B, X, Y(X,circle, square, triangle) changes between target filters (if you've enabled that).

I didn't know that but like you said (not trying to be an ass) "If you've enabled it".. i havn't and did'nt know it existed but you just hit me with an apifany.. "If you've enabled it" So why not have an option for a 3rd skill bar in the UI settings.. i only whinge because i cant see my CD's without switching skill bars which is a pain... i know i could put other hotbars out on some part of the screen just so i can see the CD's (which is what i do now ) but it's a little intrusive.. I know t's not an essential.. I just know it will help me loads and maybe others too, and it wouldn't be to hard of an addition.

Well on the PS4 controller you can setup a third bar assigned to both L2 & R2. So L2 is one bar, R2 is a second bar and L2 + R2 together is a third bar...you can even a assign a separate bar if you press L2 before R2 and vice verse.

This. You already have a 3rd and 4th bar if you use the L2+R2 and R2+L2 combos. It sounds cumbersome but for me it feels pretty natural - if you're already holding R2 for your main abilities you just press/hold L2 to swap to your secondary bar. I use those for the things that I don't need to actively see the icon for its cooldown (DoTs, etc) or for stances. It can be done via controller on PC as well. I believe that R2+L2 and R2+L2 default to your last 2 cross hotbars.

On a side note, you can also macro abilities to L3 and R3. I have Shukuchi on R3 for NIN so I can just click and move. For SMN I use R3 for Obey to redirect my Egi to a new target.

im not talking switching to a bar here.. i'm taliking a new skill bar on the scree so we can see cd's.. on pc the skill bar takes like 30% of the screen... an extra "LB" bar just above the "Controller" bar would'nt be as intrusive as the pc "KB Mouse" UI

By LB i mean left bumper

It's just about knowing CD time's.. not switching... im switching just to check CD's which is a hindrence

Go to Cross Hotbar settings in the menu and find the option for the Expanded controls. This allows R2+L2 and L2+R2. The hotbars only show while both buttons are held down. So, while holding R2 you get your normal hotbar, and while holding R2+L2 you get a other hotbar. If you release L2, it goes back to your normal R2 bar.

As for R3, you can assign a macro to it under controller settings.

If you're asking for some sort of extra hotbar that is always visible just for cooldowns, I haven't had any need for it so I haven't looked into it myself. I just keep the stuff with cooldowns on my main hotbar and keep stuff I don't need to track or use frequently on my secondary bars.

I dont know how it works on ps4 but on pc you can resize your bars, I have like all 10 bars enabled and it takes up maybe the bottom quarter of my screen including Mini-map and chat.

    http://s2.postimg.org/4tifcz6gp/Layout.png

Thats mine with all my actions, Additions, and even the 6 pvp abilities thrown on it along with other random crap

And I am not 100% sure I understand what you want but if I think I get what you want you can enable the PC hotbars to show up along with your cross hotbars (The controller ones) At least on PC you can, So you could make a sized down hotbar with all your CD's on it to see whats on and off cool down but still also have them on one of your swapped cross hotbars to use when needed. This would give you the bar showing your CD"s while still letting you press your LB to then bring up the bar on the cross bar to use the abilities as needed.

So you would have something like this just pretend that its all set up where you want and such with the cross bar and the one other bar above or below it with your CD's, They would show what is / isn't and how much time is left on CD's

then you can hit your Button combo like LB+RB To get to the hotbar that has a copy of them on it to use.

I'm not sure about PS4 but on PC, even if you're using the cross hotbar, you can still make the horizontal and vertical hotbars visible. Set them up wherever you want them and then drop in the ability icons you want visible for cooldowns.
