    Yea...except even if we had 100 options for each piece of gear, we'd just end up picking the one that had the most "damage".

    Max DPS is nonnegotiable - if two fights require different stats, then that simply means more grinding to get more gear...it leads to again the illusion of choice, not actual choice.

    When every choice but 1 is incorrect, you have no choice.

    Tank choice is the same way - the only difference being its a lot more difficult to say what is "comfortable" hp levels for a tank...not really though. All STR all the time is still and should be the default unless your healers cannot handle it...in most cases this means the healer should get better.

    HP and Damage Mitigation are only two of the three concerns for a tank. The third concern is Threat Management. I don't know how many times I yanked off of a full vit tank with a STR PLD in SwO (this was pre 3.0). If you're making your dps hold back or they are yanking off of you, HP and Damage Mitigation are irrelevant. Yes there is a balance but to say to go one way or the other is just silly.

    But I agree that fending gear needs a mix of VIT and STR.

    another way they could fix this is (I'm taking this off the beast master class in ro2(yes i played that game >.<)) is that if a tank class (and tank class only) gets vit they also get a boost to there damage. so say 1 vit = 10 hp (or whatever it is) it would now be 1vit= 10 hp + .2 str

    Really you complain about it scaling of STR instead of it using Spell Speed to reduce its recast/cast time?

    I'm hoping they just settle it once and for all, call me boring if you want. But I'd rather there just be one optimal set of gear to wear and be done with it.

    Same could be said for STR being PLD's primary modifier. Frankly, I wouldn't mind if Tanks primary was swapped to VIT simply because it means less stat juggling for tanks, and would eliminate the need for SE to come in and buff tank Enmity every major patch because tanks wouldn't have to keep sacrificing DPS that affects hate generation in order to take a hit.
