ALCHEMISTS GETTING THE SHAFT IN 1.19

So, they reduce the yield of all our recipes which produces 12 items, they now produce 1 item. This applies to glues, oils, etc, but none of our recipes have been adjusted. then in addition, fine sand will no longer be available from NPCs. really????

The difference is the Culinarian was an obviously incomplete, broken, pretty much unimplemented class and you have to have been some kind of masochist to level it to 50 already. If you have already leveled a Culinarian to 30-50, the suffering is nobody's fault but your own. Especially if it's the only class you wanted to play, why would you level it up before they even really put it in the game?

Meanwhile alchemy has been much more practical since the early changes to recipes adding productive synths for shards and crystals from fishing catches.

The (attempt at)love for alchemy in this patch is the love for fishers. You already pretty much have to do fishing if you want to do alchemy and this patch really cements it.

However, this could have some funny, unintended effects.

Consider the dark bass/fish glue issue. The alchemists who don't fish are going to get destroyed as those fish get even more expensive. The current good value (for fish sellers) is based on demand from alchemists who don't fish, but this will drive those hold outs to fish.

And yet the value of the fish is almost entirely based on there being a lot of alchemists who don't fish. As more and more alchemists fish, the value of dark bass for fish glue and everything else in the fisher--->alchemy chain would drop.

Hurray, this craft is still going to be disgustingly annoying to level post 40!

you make alot of good points here, particularly about CUL being a total waste of time to level. it was well known how shitty CUL was before this patch, so indeed, you must be a masochist to have bothered leveling it. regarding the fishing, im not convinced many more alc will take up fishing - they may just take up other crafts instead - this is the path of least resistance. fishing is arguably more boring than spamming standard synthesis and it requires you to even pay attention a little bit. so anyway, i think the alc population will likely decline. all signs point towards the price of crystals and shards going up, especially since alc will no longer be able to buy fine sand from a vendor anymore.
