Weapon first. No contest.
The weapon? I'm pretty sure that's standard.
Or do you just mean armor? Haven't decided yet.
Wouldn't plan it yet since that's 2 weeks away and would depend on drops from Savage as well.
Chests in particular are usually at the end of the raid, so that's probably after the weapon.
I'll actually probably get Chest first, then weapon next (as a paladin the weapon will only take me 2 weeks).
The weapon would be replacing an i190 Ravana weapon, whereas the chest is replacing an i180 chest (Alex one is pretty meh so will combo eso chest with Alex normal legs). The weapon will still give a bit more threat/damage of course, but given the weighting I saw that 1 weapon damage is about the same as 8 in a primary stat, you're getting 2 weapon damage going from i180 to i200 just via the strength on the Chest, so the damage increase isnt as significant as you'd think. Also the Esoterics sword is slower than the Ravana so doesnt perform quite as well in sword oath.
Usually I'd go with the weapon anyway as it IS a bit more damage/threat for a 10 ilevel upgrade than 20 on the chest, but given the size of the tankbuster in A1S and the sheer damage of A2S, I think I'd rather have two weeks of being sturdier from the chest and delay the sword.
Weapon is the best choice, doesn't matter what job you are.
Not especially, just weighing up the value of replacing a Ravana Sword with the Esoterics one vs the Asuran Chest with Esoterics. If anything, if the values I've read are correct, some people are overestimating the effect of the weapon.
Going from Ravana Sword (i190) to Antequated Hauteclair (i200) you gain: +2 Weapon Damage, +6 Str, +8 Vitality, +6 Det and swap 41 skillspeed into 46 parry.
Going from Asuran Chest (i180) to Antequated Creed Chest (i200) you gain: +15 Str, +19 Vit, 14 Acc, 64 defense and swap 48 skillspeed for 60 Parry.
From what i've read of preliminary testing, Weapon Damage is about the same as 8 of a primary stat, so you can roughly equate the +2 Weapon damage with +16 strength, and the 6 det is just under 1 str. Ignoring the swap of skillspeed to parry on both, your rough decision is thus (+23 Str and +8 Vit) for the sword vs (+15 Str, +19 Vit, 64 Def, +14 Acc) for the chest. Thus the choice is really +8 Str vs +11 Vit and 64 Def (assuming the 1 weapon damage = 8 Str estimate is correct).
Given how nice a little extra Vit can be in the early Alex Savage floors, I'd probably prefer the +11 Vit and 64 Def the chest replacement gives over the roughly 8 Str extra the Sword upgrade would give. If I already had the Alex i190 chest then weapon would be a no brainer first choice, but when you look at the numbers like that they're both very similar. You gain a fair threat/damage boost from the chest, not enough to beat the weapon but still a reasonable amount.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but the TLDR is that replacing Ravana Sword with Eso sword vs Asuran Chest with Creed Chest is a decision of whether you want about 8 Strength or 11 Vitality with some free extra Def and Acc. Both are decent upgrades, there's less difference between them than people might think.

Or you can wait another 2-4 weeks, get the 190 Alex body, and not waste your first tomes on a marginal upgrade.
Also "a little extra VIT" is basically nothing.
XI: Zeroblade, Titan Server
For PLD,
The weapon is 2 weapon damage, 6 str, 8 vit, 6 det
2 weapon damage = ~18 str.
Going from i180 chest to i200 chest gives you 15 strength, 19 vit, 64 def / mdef.
I don't know the mitigation the def will give you but 11 vit and the ~160 hp that gives you isn't going to save you from anything.
With how bad PLD's enmity generation currenty is, you need all the help you can get. So the weapon will not only add what it inherently does to your DPS, it will also allow you to Royal Authority more.
Imma get a big bad axe.
