Weekly capped items like Esoterics need to carry over from week to week

I'm speaking mainly about things like Esoterics and Scrips but other things also have daily or weekly caps. However in terms of progression the current Tomestone and I guess these new Scrips are the important things.

Because Esoterics and whatnot reset every week, you basically have to play consistently every week to cap them. If you miss a week, they are gone and you can't get them back. You permanently lose a week of this gated progression until the next tier of Tomestones are released and the current tier becomes obsolete and is then uncapped.

This results in a game where you literally cannot do real life things such as go on a vacation or anything else where you might not be able to log on for a week due to circumstances in real life unless you are okay with losing a week or more's progression. Maybe I'm just not hardcore enough to give up vacations, family visits, emergencies, or anything else for a game.

Things would be a lot better if you could accumulate Esoterics to be gained or whatever like leve allowances. Then I could you know have a family which visits me, or go on trips, and my Esoterics or whatever would simply accumulate and when I came back I could grind them out to my heart's content when I have free time. Right now I feel like I'm shackled to the game, if I go on a vacation for a week or 2 weeks or something happens and I can't login, then that's it. Tough luck, go play a casual game like Hello Kitty Online if you can't handle playing the game on a schedule like a job. Sigh.

It only really matters in the first month or two after a tomestone comes out. Yeah you "miss out" on a week of progression, but that's a small delay in the grand scheme of how long it takes you to fully unlock the whole set. Law is uncapped and Law gear is enough to get you through pretty much everything but Alex Savage, which is meant to be a challenge and thus require a few boosts from Alex NM and now esoterics gear.

With all that said, I think a rollover would be a nice compromise to the 900 cap we had on poetics near the end (which meant WAY too much grinding to cap it each week) and the current 450 cap, which is limiting if you have to take a few days off or even a week off. I've been taking care of my sick sister in law for the last few days so I'm behind for the week; knowing my unused esoterics from the cap would "roll over" like unused minutes on a phone plan would make tomorrow's grind seem less daunting!

Unless you're really trying hard to gear up for Alexander Savage, what's the rush to cap every single week? It's not like 3.1 is going to introduce anything remotely difficult that requires such gear. If you're really that worried about going away on vacation and missing out on your weekly caps, then I think you got priorities screwed up.

I work a few days a week in the afternoon to evening and I do other things besides playing this game. I don't give a moogle's bum on whether or not I am current on my gear or other progression. You only feel like you're "forced" to play this game on a schedule because you treat it that way.

It's still a valid reason and a valid proposition, and the devs have said they are looking into it although it is difficult to do.

Shouldn't sweat it.. These gears are going to end up as dungeon drops called Antiquated broken armor that you have to trade to some Lalafell in Idyllshire in a patch or 2.. So if you miss one or two..that's how you get it eventually.

And I am in favor of them looking in alternate methods, but people really should learn to take it easy in this game every now and then.

That would be nice and all...if this community wasn't so obsessed with numbers like average item lvl. I'm already seeing the average ilvl requirements for content like Ravana and Bismark extreme gradually increasing from week to week in the party finder. And this isn't new. I remember back in 2.X, people creating parties with ilvl requirements higher than what was obtainable at the time the content was released (such as min ilvl 115+ T9 parties).

And before anyone says anything...yes, I'm aware people are at liberty to do whatever they want with their PF groups. Also, yes, I am well aware people can make their own PF groups if they don't like it. My comment is simply to state falling behind can have an adverse affect on your ability to approach higher tier content on your terms. And just because someone falls behind a week doesn't mean they don't have the potential to catch back up...it's just the strict weekly caps prevent that.

Well, this is one way they keep the casuals' wallets open, you know?

Of course, the monthly fee structure is... Well, monthly. I see no reason the tomestone caps couldn't accumulate up to a month on paid accounts.

This is the only Weekly Cap argument I can actually agree with. I don't agree with raising the cap or reducing the cost, but I could get behind the weekly cap "stacking" if you don't cap out. Maybe up to 2,000 or something.

Wouldn't mind this. My FC does things on EST prime time and lately I've been having health issues and had to skip alot of the FC activities since I live in asia and I had to do some medical checkups, visiting the doctor etc in the morning (EST prime time). When I get back home I have roulettes for exp and tomes, daily hunts, weekly alex, dol/doh levelling to tackle so I don't fall behind since I was the FC's static OT, cook and alchemist (50% of the mats I also gathered). Usually all of these were nothing but I feel under the weather quite often lately and just want to sleep after treatments etc and the times I get to do stuff with my FC, we try to farm the ravana tokens/weapons or try A1S (still sorting out HR too). I missed last week's A4N drop and misrolled on an A1N drop (was groggy).
