Hard Slash is so bad, it's really unfortunate they made it our combo starter. Spinning Slash is very solid and could easily be used instead, not an awkward wrist-breaking slice into what looks like a hernia due to picking the sword back up. We also NEVER EVER see the latter half of the Reprisal animation, due to the off GCD nature.

The largest disappointment, by far, is the disconnect between Souleater, and Power Slash.

One is very rarely used, not optimal for DPS(or threat because Darkside gives crazy threat), and has an amazing animation + sound.

One is your best DPS and a great selfheal, but has next to no distinctive sound and one of the blandest animations in the entire game.

Please don't make the animation as slow as war. I disagree firmly with the OP's statement, the current Dark Knight's animation looks perfect.

There's nothing in the DRK toolkit that sounds as satisfying as swinging an equivalent weapon in Dark Souls 1 or 2. I think the animations are mostly fine, but the sound effects lack impact and have a generic energy sound as they slash and swing away. You get not feeling of weight with those sounds of impact. Even Ultima Online's halberds back in the day have a better sound effect where you can hear the weight behind those swings with a satisfying "this blade is going to crush through your armor and end your family line" kind of sound.

I'm not posting this video for what the guy has to say, just that it does a good job of showing all the animations for skills. I'm sorry, but none of the animations look "too light" at all. They all have a "hefty-ness" to them.

they're fine. the only one that could actually use a little weight in it is carve and spit, but our gcd skills, dark passenger, and reprisal have correct weighting.

swords in general need balance to work correctly, and the attacks we use suggest good balance. the average weight of a zweihander ranges between 4-8 pounds, and a claymore is 5-6.5 anyway, so they aren't that heavy, and no one in their right mind would try to swing the bulkier weapons like aroundight, the baldur blade, and deathbringer anyway.

Because the 'right' mind is real life.

No one lives inside of the XIV universe, where they can, and would.

Well uh we certainly didn't have any problem picking up those giant totem statues that one boss in Neverreap summons and tossing them around like cardboard boxes.

Some of you guys seem to misunderstand my point. Heavy and powerful strikes don't necessarily mean SLOW strikes. Look butcher's block, fell cleave, and even RoH. Animations are not slow. But do they look strong? Yes. At least they have IMPACT. DRK skills mentioned above lack impact. Delirium ie is weak as a sklil already, make it badass would add some incentive.the point of this thread is to help make DRK attacks more badass. Changing sound effect might be a great start.
