PvP ranks to a "fresh player"

So I know that ARR is a primarily PvE game...I get that. however if you are going to advertise a PvP option I would expect it to be moderately engaging.

I dont have an issue with the PvP itself per se....at least that is not why I make this post.

I played ARR a bit, quite for a while, and picked it back up a bit before Heavensward.

I have leveled a DRK and SUMN to 60 and have run Alex quite a few times and have gotten most of the gear on my DRK.

I saw the new pvp stuff coming down the pike and the new PvP models look really cool to me. I was always planning on checking out the PvP again so I was excited to see these coming.

Then I go and check them out in game an.....you have to have a pvp level of around 47 to even equip and use them. I checked my rank and I was at 11.....

You are telling me after leveling 2 classes already I have to level them again just to get the pvp gear to use in the PvP mode? of which there is only one end game PvP mode that I would have to grind over and over and over again to get the XP required?

I mean I might be able to understand it if there are a few different maps and modes to chose from but....there is only one mode for 60s. And its a 72 man cluster fuck.

Dont get me wrong I love those big AV style fights...but smaller 10 v 10 or even 15 v 15 fights are good to break things up a bit.

I just feel that the new PvP gear is out of reach for casual-ish players who have not been able to keep their PvP rank up to match their real level.

Pretty much as it should be. You already now have access to all the other PvP armor at no rank requirement and severely reduced costs.

Just like there's rewards for people who put a lot of time and effort into PvE, the same goes for PvP.

    Couple of things though...

To get Alex Normal Rewards requires A LOT less time investment then the PvP gear...not to mention the fact that you are already set up for it simple due to playing the game...you dont have to have a separate rank other than ilvl (which again....playing through the game gets you most) to get into Alex. You can get all your drops for the week in about 4hrs or so depending on your class and luck.

Secondly you are wrong....I think ilvl 100+ PvP gear still has a ranking requirement so the notion that we have acess to all other items at no rank is false.

And again I dont mind having to work for the PvP items...I think that is why wolf marks are there no? As a PvP currency aking to Raid drops (just on a more consistent basis). Why gate it through rank as well? And if you are why make it so there is only 1 map to reasonably up your PvP rank? And why make it just a long grind in the first place. Its not you know...10 or 15 ranks....this is like leveling the same character AGAIN.

A casual player will have little trouble getting all the Alex normal gear in a reasonable time frame...but the PvP gear is different since they not only have to grind levels AGAIN but also have to grind the currency along with it.

Yeah the ranks 0-45 are worthless basically. They really did not design/consider that part well.

    Why though?

Why would you want to alienate a section of the player base that does not have the time to grind out ANOTHER set of levels on a class that ALREADY leveled up once?

Do you want just one map? Do you want just one game type? Do you not want some more diversity in your PvP choice?

I never get this "I had to do it so you have to as well" mentality.

I dont think its good to ask players to essentially level their character a second time (but this time you have to what amounts to run the same instance over and over and over again) just to have access to PvP gear.

If you want to expand the PvP community you have to have more options and a less grindy way of getting items.

Im sorry but all im seeing here is " im new to pvp I want to be rank 45 and all the gear now". It would be completely unfair for you to not grind whatsoever to obtain the highest rank gear. Get gud mate and grind it out

Btw if you actually give a shit about pvp and the enjoyment of it you shouldn't be so concerned about having to grind it out. If you start now you will be done in 2 months max
YOU realize that having to level up a class means that most people who are either new or returning to the game have not had a chance to rank up what the max was in ARR right? As of now I am rank 13, so 5 more levels impacts a bit more than someone who was already max out before Heavensward.

Again your idea is to be honest selfcentered and bad for the game. Like I said do you WANT to alienate people from PvP? Cause that is what is going to happen. New players will come in, see that they have to not just level once but TWICE to get the PvP gear they want and most if not all will simply forgo it and stick to eitehr PvE or quite the game entirely.

Tell me how healthy is that for the game? Are you glad they did not get the new gear so you can look pretty in your PvP armor while the state of PvP in the game further dies? You need to look beyond your own selfish desires.

I have no problem working up to get the gear, none at all. I am saying the AMOUNT of grinding needed to get to max PvP rank is simply not feasable for those that have not already maxed out pre Heavensward.

If anything have it be 5 or 10 ranks (adjust the XP needed to rank up accordingly) so that the grind is not as impossible for most players.

This issue is further compounded by the fact that there is ONE PVP MAP ONLY....at least when leveling to 60 there are lots of different content to do while leveling...even at 60 to gear up you have the rouleets and different instances and such. Yes I do enjoy PvP....but I also like ice cream....but eating the same flavor of ice cream over and over and over again gets old fast.

I dont see why you think a bad system should stay bad just because you "had to do it".

Now not only do you have a free 50% of your rank per week in challange logs, you also get a free wins worth of pvp xp a DAY

If you do the absolute minimum of 1 match a day and only do the FL side of the challenge logs, you will be rank 50 in as little as 242 matches, you are guaranteed that regardless of if you carry the team or you are afk, compare that to the two THOUSAND wins we had to get to hit rank 30 originally, if you didnt win, this took much much longer and you didnt get pity xp from losing over and over like you do in FL

if you do one match a day, average out at 300xp a match (it will be higher overall because of loss bonuses) it will take you less than a year, thats for minimal effort
