Ooh, I just had a thought too. That 27.5%, because of my calculations were flawed, combine effort for doing both gatherer AND crafting limits. If you main one or the other to focus on, it is only about 13.75% of your time, which I believe is reasonable for bleeding edge content.

You can however gather more items needed for scrips in a week than you actually need. And need to do less work the next week.

But isn't that what the OP is complaining about? Also you can compare crafted two stars to 210 battle gear, in that both are BIS. There are already people who have their crafted class specific weapon. How many people have a 210 battle weapon? A 200 weapon?

You also don't have to spend time gathering favors if you truly don't want to. You can buy the mats from someone else. Theoretically you could also buy an A4 kill, but that's months away. Buying favor mats is here right now.

There are reasons to complain about the scripts system but it is a lot harder and longer to get the comparable battle gear.

As a foundation, I believe it's great from a business standpoint and a playing standpoint. Heck, I calculated how long it would take if you knew what you were doing and out of an entire week, it would only take about .08% of your total time to max out your 450 red scrips for both gatherer and crafter. Once you are capped out, go do something else. There's a reason we have multiple options and avenues to explore in this game.
It takes 30 ish hours and millions of Gil each week assuming you have all gatherers at 60 and at least 5 crafters at 60, all max melded with 3.0 gear. Your math isn't correct in the slightest. Also, this is bad for both a business and player perspective. It's just going to make people quit and since when is 20 hours of non-stop gathering filled with RNG good for ANY player?

    Please research the system.

To clarify what I said: I think people blow this red scrip situation out of proportion. Its meant to be a time gate to keep you playing. That's the drive behind the MMO pay-to-play business model.

Also, it isn't so much a wall as it is a mountain. When you first climb it, sure, it's rough and you wonder if its worth it. However, once you hit the top, getting down to the bottom is a hell of a lot easier due to the fact that once you get the ilvl180 stuff through red scrips, certain crafts can forge the ilvl180 gear and put it on the market, making red scrips less of a factor. Typically gating of that manner is only necessary for so long. Potentially 16 weeks and then new content is added.
You seen to forget that i180 will always be 100 million at least. They will never sell, therefore your point is moot. Nothing gets easier, nothing will change until Square listens to the community.

DoW/DoM have to spend on average 30 minutes IN a dungeon doing nothing but killing mobs and bosses to obtain their esoterics.. Per run. (Counting Expert dungeons only)
6 DR: Expert (with bonus) per week required.
    That's 3 hours.

There are problems with the scrips system, but making bad analogies is not going to help anything.
You're accounting for 10% of the system. The real grind is after you have the red gatherer scrips. Please do some research.

    Rip lol
I wonder how grindy the new relics will be.
SE doesn't know their limits of insane gating & rng. It always ends up getting out of hand.
Imo this stuff must be normal to yoshi and his crew, i wonder what their definition of insane grind is.

Except crafting in 2.0 felt accessible to a lot of different people. You had the liberty to work towards your goals at your pace, and even the time limited crafting components were more accessible since even those who had no interest in DoL/DoH could contribute to the supply on the server. Now it feels like you're being punished if you don't cap each week.

Also completely disagree that hardcore and casual players have different goals...it's just a difference in how they approach them.

Yes, you can do that, but if you miss turn ins, there are still no ways to make up the deficit. Not trying to say there is no way to mitigate the risk. It just sucks people aren't as free to work towards their crafting goals on their own time and rules and now have to be worried about some weekly reset.
