Yoshi and Square threw a fit on crafters and gathering because Final Coil teams used crafted gear with penta melds to break their content in T10-13 and clear it in a week. They really did not like this and I believe they decided to just make crafting completely worthless going forward instead of trying to make a balance of it or put some time and effort into new ideas that would not break their content but still make it viable.
