It all comes down to how MMO group content is designed. So long as player interdependence exist such that the whole group is punished for the failings of a few, people are going to be at each other's throats over what is "acceptable performance".Yeah, I recall that transition occurring fairly early in WoW's history. It just became more prevalent as time went on. However, there has never been a game that uses the tank, healer, and damage dealer roles whose end game didn't devolve into a parser fest. The damage dealer role itself is the flaw, not parsers. Either that or blame human nature, but since games are there to cater to human nature I generally blame the trinity.
Also, it feels like more end game groups are using parsers now then they were in FFXIV 2.0, which is similar to my experience in virtually every other MMORPG using the trinity. It's pretty much inevitable.
