    I can't even play this anymore!

    For the past few days while playing the free trial I've been getting kicked offline every 15-20 minutes or so with no error message. Last night I got kicked offline literally 3 times in a row. I bought the game because I kind of liked this and that maybe the free trial was buggy. I decided I needed to do something so I tried to validate my Steam files, which resulted in the ENTIRE base name being re-downloaded. I slept it off, came back to reinstall the expansion via the launcher. I tried to re-download the expansion only to be prompted that the launcher was unable to check the version. Over and over and over and over and over again. I said screw it, uninstalled the base game altogether, re-downloaded it from scratch and the exact same things happened. I submitted what I thought was a ticket, since Square's customer support is confusing, with no confirmation e-mail that it was received. What the hell is going on?!

    I honestly haven't the foggiest idea what the problem you are having is. I bought/play ff14 through steam and have never had an issue like that and according to steam I have 1330 hours on this game. Is it that the game is just flat out closing itself?

    Prior to this current issue of not being able to check the current version during the expansion download, I would drop from the game out of nowhere. It was an application error. This is what I saw when I checked my system event information:

    I've seen a few threads where some people had an issue with dx11. I personally don't but I know there has been some buzz about it. Have you checked the typical things such as made sure video drivers are up to date, NET framework, and such? You can also turn the game to DX9 in the launcher itself and see if it works like that too.

    I generated a report with the Akami NetSession Interface Console, which is what I'm guessing deals with the NET framework, and it found no problems. My driver's are up-to-date. And I guess I revert back to DX9. What is the difference between the two?

    DX11 just has a bit more crisp details and graphical changes. It is nothing that will alter your experience or change game play in any way, just a little lower in the visuals is all.

    Just to be on the safe side got to the advanced tab in the Windows Internet Properties (inetcpl.cpl from the search or run box) and make sure all the e cryption protocols are enabled. Most important is that the TLS options are enabled. They recently moved to the higher standard and the options typically are not enabled unless you tick the boxes yourself. Many people missed the Lodestone announcement about the change and have been having strange things happen all week.
