Suggestion: Cumulative Weekly Caps on Esoteric Tomestones

I think a lot of people get burned out on the content from forcing themselves to do stuff on a schedule that isn't compatible with their current lifestyles. Another possibility is that they want to do other things in the game than grind end game currency, but the time it takes to get the currency interferes with those other in game activities (like raising an alternate character).

To combat this, a simple solution would be to add the arithmetic difference between esoteric tomestones earned and the weekly cap on esoteric tomestones to the following week's esoteric cap. As long as the cumulation of tomestones is tied to an active subscription, this allows players to be more flexible with what they do, and promotes a more positive environment.

Players would be less compelled to reject helping a friend in order to meet a weekly cap. Players that need to get away from the game for a week due to a busy work week or just due to burn out can do so without fear of permanent progression loss. And those that have enough time to do a lot in a given week can allocate sufficient time to do other in game activities without feeling pressured into doing a different kind of activity over weekly currency caps. It also acts as a good compromise for those who complain about weekly caps on the forums, so the forums themselves should be less hostile as well. In short it frees players to approach the game the way they want.

I don't see why they can't do this except for that it may be tricky to code and/or keep track of this kind of data for every player. Inb4 "Blimey, the server - she cannae take anymore, Cap'n!"

The coding part is easy. I think the part that would hold this back is that they need to somehow keep track of how much a player earned on a weekly basis, which would mean more stuff needs to get held in the database. The database part would be the only real challenge.

The problem is that this type system was implemented because in many Asian countries they have decided to actually tackle the problem with people playing for way too long. Seriously there have been people that literally played themselves to death. While it sounds like a good idea for you right now (sure that person could have more flexibility like being able to go on vacation and not worry about losing progress but at the same time when they come back and binge to get all their tomes...) it defeats the entire point of what they were trying to do in implementing this in the first place.
