    [Incorrect(?) Item Names] R/B Landtrap Leaves

    [item=10009501]Red Landtrap Leaf[/item]: The thin, twitching leaf of a roseling.
    [item=10009502]Blue Landtrap Leaf[/item]: The thin, twitching leaf of a flytrap.

    Where does "Landtrap" come in? Would they not be just Roseling Leaves and Flytrap Leaves?

    If landtraps referred to both species (Roseling, Flytrap) of the (recently renamed from Roseling to) Flytrap genus, I feel like the item [item=3010303]Landtrap Salad[/item] could be made with leaves from either, but it can only be made with Blue Landtrap Leaves. I guess the younger, redder roselings aren't ripe yet. I bet their leaves are bitter, anyway.

    Should Landtrap be removed from items that refer to it, or is there another layer of taxonomy we've never had to use as an example before?

    I digress. I'm pretty sure the following changes should be made:

    [item=10009501]Red Landtrap Leaf[/item] >> Roseling Leaf
    [item=12000047]Red Landtrap Vine[/item] >> Roseling Vine
    [item=10009502]Blue Landtrap Leaf[/item] >> Flytrap Leaf
    [item=12000048]Blue Landtrap Vine[/item] >> Flytrap Vine
    [item=3010303]Landtrap Salad[/item] >> Flytrap Salad

    Cheers!

    Giving this one a gentle nudge so it doesn't fall too far behind. (Sorry for this if it was skipped on purpose, but I've dragged myself through all the databases I can find and just can't seem to locate any support for Landtrap aside from that one subspecies of mob that isn't... you know... in the actual... you ... you know... nevermind...)

    No, no.
    I did not forget. I was simply drowning in the Sea of Mermentia, and had to fight off a few sharks to make it back to shore.

    I believe in a previous post I mentioned that (thanks to naturalists of times past) genus names often match up with species names. While this is true, it does not mean that it is applicable 100% of the time. There are those genus names that remain independent from the names of the species found within them. Landtrap is one of those cases where the genus name is not the same. (Another case would be the genus Rodent which contains rats, squirrels, marmots, and dormice)

    I suppose one could liken the "salad" situation to that of bean stew.

    A stew with lentils and chickpeas can be called bean stew, just as a stew with only lentils or only chickpeas can be called bean stew, being that both lentils and chickpeas are legumes. Roseling leaves and flytrap leaves are both landtrap leaves, and a salad containing both (or either) can safely be called landtrap salad (though flytrap salad would not be wrong, either).

    I hope that clears things up! (I need to make that my sig )

    Ahhh, I understand. And here I was thinking I had it just about right... I had it at rodents and swarms... but you got me with landtraps. Well, no item renaming needed. Carry on, nothing to see here...

    /em goes back to writing his Codex.

    Thanks, Ferne ^^ (I need to make that my sig...)

    I wish you the best of luck on the high seas, that Merm's got a sharp eye.
