They should let you leave and rejoin, and also they should not try to force players into groups outside of their company. super lame

It would be funny if a linkshell forces all members to 1 GC and then all the better reward they get from Ifrit would be more Seals ^^
exactly my idea. You thinking to better drop rate/better stats/better i don't know what, while almost certanly will be a minor thing. Just like the others 3/4 thing should had ruin the game, like aggro icon or thread meter

I am pretty sure that this wouldn't even be such an issue if people actually broke up their little cliques and decided to play with people who aren't 'in their circle'. It wouldn't even be a difficult task to find a few people to beat Ifrit up with from your Grand Company... you know, OUTSIDE of your linkshell.
I think what separating the Grand Companies like this is supposed do is increase camaraderie with folks who you aren't already in a linkshell with. You know, breaking up those little bubbles people in this game seem to have put up. Of course it's not working because instead of choosing the GC they want, they are all just coming together to choose a single one.
I seriously doubt that was the intended result... the bonuses are really something they should have kept under their hat.
But anyway, no... you can't not have player segregation as the players themselves are the ones dead set on it, not Square.
They already said the bonus only applies to the normal mode fight. for everyone rank 50 it doesnt even matter because they will be doing the hard fight for the weapons anyway. So there is no problem, pick any company you want. it doesnt matter
There's no player segregation here. Your journey may be slightly different depending on the company you choose but otherwise most everything else is the same. Gear is a pretty moot point too considering materia, crafter gear and NM/dungeon drops.I wanted to post a heads up that Yoshida has confirmed that "Those who defeat Ifrit in a party formed exclusively of members from their own Grand Company will earn greater rewards" only applies to the level 25+ battle (Bowl of Embers [Normal]) and not the high level one.
He also mentioned that the bonus earned when all 3 grand companies are represented in the party will be implemented in the future and again reiterates, please choose the Grand Company you want to. The choice is yours.
It wouldn't matter anyways, because there are bonuses for different company combinations as well. People just enjoy pointless flailing for the thrill of imagined righteous indignation.
I agree with everything you say here except it has one gigantic flaw: I think that, by now, after everything we have seen this past year from SE in terms of fixes and content, it has become OBSCENELY clear that everything SE is doing is not for you. (and by you I mean us, the people that have payed for the game and are playing it now.) They don't give a shit about us bud. They would rather fix the game in a way that caters to people that haven't bought a copy of the game yet. So while they will continue to use us for our input in order to fix the game, I can assure you they aren't doing it for us. They are doing it in hopes of getting a ton of people that aren't playing this game to buy a copy at a time in which they can then charge them a monthly fee.First they tell us that Caravan Escort will be company only.
We all understood, it was a R25 event that held little value late game and offered almost no reward other than Seals.
Secondly they tell us that players should choose what Company to choose based on the Speech and the one with most appeal (Good), only to inform us that loot drops will be influenced by keeping the same companies within a group (BAD)
What are the repercussions of pressuring people to all go with the most popular company if they want to stand a chance at joining a group or getting geared ASAP?
"ULDAH OR GTFO".
One of the most appealing parts of this patch for a lot of people is the thought of spreading the population out to the ghost towns (Thanks to: Airship // Chocobo's // Company Leves ), however this part of the patch completely goes against that.
I just cannot fathom SE's contradictory train of thought sometimes.

I only wish people would learn to stop posting crap like this altogether until they flip the on switch on charging us. They have even said that they are going to be redoing the maps for Gridania, LL, and the zones outside of them. Those changes will take the longest, so of course they are gonna herd us all into the one city they won't be redoing until that happens. Lets all hold off on the hate speech we have for what they are doing until they come out and say "Hey, fixes are done, give us your money"
EDit: The comment about hate speech was not directed at the OP, this was a well thought out and polite post. I do see a TON of other posts however that are just developer flaming threads about assinine issues.
