If you go to the JP patch notes, even using crappy google translation it clearly says at the last sentence that the R25~ Ifrit fight is the one involving the rewards increasing with all members being from the same company.

Wish the english one shed some light on it. All it said was:
"Those who defeat Ifrit in a party formed exclusively of members from their own Grand Company will earn greater rewards."
No distinction between Easy Mode & Hard.
Even if it was I'm sure you would learn how to deal with it.
Well, considering this is a Japanese developed game, you should rely more on their information spoken through their native language. Rather than complain and wait for the English text. Just because it's not in English doesn't mean it doesn't exist or isn't explained properly somewhere else.
Is the english language the only way you accept an explanation? You can be given translations to the notes that are written in Japanese, a language that they speak pretty often surprisingly, and use a tool to translate and it'll be written plain as day.
Then underneath thatThe "punitive war Ifrit" bonus is added to the challenge and reward the party that is composed only of members of the same company in the ground.
What else do you need? A 500 dollar subscription to Rosetta Stone? Took me just literally a minute to pull that up and translate it."Punitive expedition against Ifrit: Level 25~ 4 members or more"
Lol, rellying outsourcing translating materials is fucking stupid.Well, considering this is a Japanese developed game, you should rely more on their information spoken through their native language. Both translations should be elaborate. Much like the game itself, they release patch notes that aren't fully developed.
I mean, if nobody on the english forums understood japanese and read the notes, we wouldn't even know that it may be only r25 loot effected.
You mean that it is only r25 loot that's affected. I mean, it says it rather clearly.
As a LS leader i would never tell anybody what company to join, that is just wrong! I agree with some of the points in this thread and if LS leaders are telling you what company to join then you are owned. I would not go where i didn't want too, and i feel it will be not as bad as some are thinking....will make those ls leaders look like arseheads though if they're bossing people about, id tell them to shove it.
Avraym, so they English translators dropped the ball and didn't clarify. Lets shoot them. I'd trust the Japanese version...since well it IS the ORIGINAL. Continue to argue that if you must, but the English translators were handed that version to translate.
Onto your actual point of people choosing Uldah to 'play the numbers odds.' Yes, some will do that. And some linkshells will probably even make silly rules about what company you must join. Then again, there are plenty of linkshells advertising themselves as 'Endgame Linkshells' in a game that's barely out of Beta...so what can you do?
You should join the company that drops the gears you need/has the story you like/ is in the city you prefer. I'm POSITIVE you will be able to find 4 or even 8 people whole agree with you that ________company is awesome! SE was just giving a 'bonus' to company parties on the Rank 25 Battle. Bonus means extra by the way. You'd have a better point if it was like ffxi where when you did you City Quests Missions where if I remember correctly, you were ONLY allowed to do it with people hailing from the same city. (I know, God forbid I compare to an older MMO made by the same company to make a point.)
PS: I run a linkshell, we did take a poll on who's planning on joining what company...but not to sway anyone's decision. Instead, we did it to see how many we'd have in each. Oh, and Uldah came in 3rd.... Gridania won.
I figure that'll actually be the case, more often than not. I wonder how many people actually want to join the flames to join them, and not because they think everyone else is going there. . .
