Oh much like many of my ideas I understand core game mechanics are going to come first for the dev team, it's just an idea for the community to chew on and pass around their thoughts.
But once the game (Fundamentaly) can support itself the developers need to start thinking of ways to keep people in the game beyond the relatively short run to 50 and sparse end-game content. You can't just keep ramming new end-game content forever your going to need to let the game run itself for a bit before adding new Raids, Dungeons, NM's, level caps increases. Focusing on the other aspects of the game will need to happen sooner or later or you will have a game with a great skeleton but no meat on the bones.
Far be it for me to tell them when such changes need to happen though, I'm sure Yoshi and his team are well aware of these issues. I just like the discussion on the forums so they have places to ping ideas off of, or gather basic intel when/if they ever decide to go in a direction like this.
To say they don't have time to do Lore and story elements is strange though, it's part of the game as well. As much as you love to harp on Immersion being subjective it doesn't mean a game can't come to a certain level, you act as if "Immersion" is some sort of measuring scale that everyone has when Immersion is a pretty simple thing and it mainly depends on a personal level if thats "Enough" immersion for you.
It's more quanitfiable than you think it is. Mainly the less time you spend breaking the "4th wall" the more (generally speaking of course) you are trying to immerse your consumers. Making us go to the Lodestone or Wikis for information is breaking the 4th wall, having that information inside the game though...that's immersive. Sure the option to look at the Lodestone or Wikis for the same information in a easier to access format is available, but the option remains in the game for those of us who feel it's a great way to suck us in the game.
wanting for a game to be immersive is not futile, believing that it's a futile attempt is just being ignorant to the facts. But continue your Tirade on immersion if you must, it seems it did something terrible to your familly or something for all you hate it. If you really want to continue on this we can, but I'd rather reserve this for on-topic discussion there are 500 other immersion threads to go at it in.
*edit*
I totally agree Konachibi, I do hope that the map revision include more animated objects within the overworld map "And less animated water that we can't see under the ground!"
