In the 3-hour Tiny Axolotl fishing window, I can catch about 2-5 of them at max collectability, depending on luck. (2 being unlucky, 5 being lucky) which is between 52 and 130 red scrips every 70 min for about 9 min of fishing.
I just combine that with the MIN folklore node, since that one spawns about 15ish minutes after that fishing window.
I think the harshest thing about blue/red scripts for gatherer's is just getting started. I actually had more trouble with the blue scrips in my lvl 55 NQ/no meld gear. It took me a while with the dragon bone collectable to get the blue gather gear. After that, it felt much easier. I never really had to do the jade collectable. Both scrip systems felt rather daunting when I started but I think once you get started, it's not so bad.
If I'm watching a movie or something, I just camp the spot where the whatever is and bring up a website with the eorzea time that gives a beep when whatever you've selected is available. That way I don't have to worry about all that. /shrug
It takes too much real-life time to cap red gathering scrips
So with both mining and botany it takes approximately 5-6hrs a week to cap, doesn't seem a lot until you compare it to other activities in the game.
- It is faster to cap Esoterics each week
- It is *much* faster to cap red crafting scrips even if you go out and farm the materials for the collectables
- It is faster to clear Alex savage each week
In most cases it is difficult to go and do something else while you wait because you might miss the rare node spawn time and thus take even longer to cap. I feel bad for those with only mining or botany because then they have to spend 12hrs a week to cap.
The turn in numbers really need to be increased significantly. The current raw time requirements is too high.
It takes a combined total of 30 minimum quality Adamantite ore and Chysahl greens collectibles to cap your red scrips each week. You should be getting at least two per node visit. The trick is not to try to gather them all at once, but to gather them right after logging in and right before logging out.
Log in, wait for the Chysahl node, get the two there, head over to the adamantite ore node, collect two there, then go about your daily stuff. When you are ready to log out, head over to the Chysahl node, wait for it, get your two, then go to the Adamantite ore node, wait for it, and get your two. There, four of each (so 8 of the 30) in one day. More if you got lucky on the Impulsive procs. 3-4 days of that and you are done for the week.
Or, if you only use one of the two for your RGS, it'll take all week. You'll be getting 4 per day, or 28 minimum per week. Odds are that you'll get some 3's and 4's during the week, though, bringing you to the requisite 30.
I agree that the raw time requirement is too heavy. But that is because the system forces you to be at the right place withing a friggin 5 minute window.
It would be much more comfortable on the player if the nodes were always there but could only be collected every half hour.
Then players wouldn't be forced into a ridiculously tight corset of timings.
Then again FF XIV doesn't log you out. So you can park your char at the nodes, tab out and do something else until FFXIVclock gives you the beep.
if you get the folklore books from botanist an miner capping the redscripts should not take too long, considering that adamantite/chysahl has a chance to collect 2-4 per node an the folklore one 2-3 per node, all you need is 600gp.
with a low of 30x2=60 node adamantite/chysahl
folklore low is 20x2=40
thats a secure 100 scrip in a window of 30min
remember you can collect sometimes 4 per node so it could be faster..or the RNG can kill you an make you fail 2 hits at 95% @.@!
I guess I find it quite easy for gathering. I just to the chysahl for collectables and gather the adamantite to sell. I have a retainer that hold them all with almost 150 of them saved up. But again I am just primarily just gathering to make gil at the moment so take that into consideration![]()
Sorry for the cherry pick, but just to point it out, 650 GP is your best friend. 50 for the 5% gathering chance increase (brings 95% to 100% woohoo) then the 600 for the actual collectibles rotations.
I did not try it myself when i use to have i150 gear but i guess you can do it overmeld an food?
im sitting at 666GP,an with chysahl i reach the 704 sweet!
but 600gp is very very extremely easy to reach so any gatherer can do the redscrip in short time an no cordial, the problem is the books, but i guess one step at a time.
gathering do require some type of dedication but in the long run is worth it,except the fishing book...leave those for last.
