    The anniversary music feels like old school Final Fantasy, Please keep it!

    I want to petition Square-Enix to keep the current city music that they chose for the anniversary event. The music feels sooo old school I just can't resist asking Square-Enix to make this music the default. I have always played with the music off in town but I have to say I am really enjoying these tracks for the cities.

    Please please consider this! Make this game feel more like Final Fantasy!

    Uhh, FF town music was never as exciting as this music is. It's always been fairly mellow.

    While I understand that we are discussing City-States, I feel that the current music for each city state is very suiting, aside from Limsa, which doesn't really fit an entire City filled with scummy pirates and such. The music is great for those long hours just waiting for a party. I think the way that it has been executed was very well done, and I feel that the GC music is very, very repetitive. If they were to redo the music, at least try to give it a little less repetition. Hell, Lindblum's music in FFIX wasn't even that exciting and it was the largest city in the game. Uematsu does what he personally feels fits the game, which I am okay with.

    Also, since we're on the topic of music, Golden Bazaar, Silver Bazaar, and all of those really small towns should get their own songs, imho. It feels strange venturing into the towns and hearing the same music, which gives me the impression that they're more like larger outposts than towns (which may honestly be the case, but they just come off as towns to me). This is just a personal opinion of mine, of course. It's by no means a huge important part of the game, just a suggestion.

    I agree with you for the most part, I dont think the current upbeat music for Ul'dah fits, but I am speaking mostly for the current Gridania music. The biggest draw for myself to a Final Fantasy title is the music. When I visited the Square-Enix store this June in Tokyo (Shinjuku Station) I made sure to pick up the FFXIII soundtrack. Limnsa's original music is very good on its own and I consider that to be one of the best tracks in this game. First time I heard it was the E3 announcement video in 2010 and it gave me goosebumps every time I saw that video. I just don't feel like it fits Limnsa as a city track.

    The main problem I have with the current tracks like you is the repetitiveness as you suggested. The tracks are overly too short, they seem to repeat once a minute. I also can't stand the battle music, especially the leve tracks in the Limnsa area. The reason I posted the OP is I love how well the Gridania music fits right now. The old twinkle music they had there before sounded childish and not very Final Fantasy.

    I know YoshiP's mission is to make this game into more of a Final Fantasy Title. So the music needs to be at the same level as well. I know many people can agree with this, well at least the "fanboys" like myself. I have always loved Final Fantasy music. I have purchased so many of the CDs it is kind of sad. My first CD i ever owned was a Final Fantasy 7 Mix my brother made for me years ago.

    I don't expect them to fix it today, but hopefully in the finished product Square-Enix will consider the music as a very important element into their Final Fantasy MMO experience.

    Thanks for your response!

    I like the old tracks ok, but I like the new ones better. They give a feeling of epicness that's been a bit lacking. Today in Gridania, while turning in a quest, my track switched to the old, and I couldn't hardly stand it until I could get the new track back. I have enjoyed listening to nearly all of the tracks as I have traveled from place to place, and it definantly matters.

    Btw, and off topic, I have been traveling through Coerthas today, and once again I was swept away by the breathtakingly beautiful landscape. It reminds me some of my grandparent's place in the more mountainous areas of Alabama, USA. Please pass along my thanks to whoever designed that area.

    I have to agree. I really enjoy the new Limsa Lominsa track.

    EDIT: Hey, maybe they can keep these tracks in specific sectors of the city?
    example: Bastok --> Bastok Metalworks?

    But I suppose that would need reworking to provide a visual queue for the music suddenly changing, which may be a bit too much work.
