Doubts tearing me apart! MCH or BRD

Greetings and thank you for opening this post
Before I go to my issue this is by no means one of those usual whining threads and I'm absolutely in love with these both classes.

So... me and some of my irl buddies started played this game game few weeks ago once again and we plan to raid asap. I am rolling either MCH or BRD to our raid group and I have now reached lv52 with both of these classes to see the actual mechanics.

But here's where the problems began. Both feel fine to me with this lv52 skill to me and I cannot absolutely decide which one I should play. I keep constatly bouncing between them and cannot absolutely set my mind into another

So dear community and ppl who have raided this expansion what do you think?
Would you rather take BRD or MCH to your group?
Is dps pretty much the same between these two? If not which you think would pulls ahead.
I haven't looked into current raid mechanics yet but which one would be more forgiving in this raid content?

They're both pretty close together as far as output is concerned. As someone that's mained bard in 2.0 and now maining MCH, MCH definitely feels more "complete" of the two as far as gameplay is concerned. If you didn't main bard before, you probably won't notice the hiccups in their gameplay as much as I do.

While I have LITTLE experience in those classes, I can say I really enjoyed leveling my Archer to 15 to become a BLM. While I only got the Archer to level 20, I really enjoyed the class and have been contemplating becoming a Bard. So my advice, go Bard!

I think I understand and know what you mean with this and it is one of reasons I hop back to mch after playing bard for a while. "Forced insta" casts are nice compared to full turret mode and whole gcd flow somehow feel better suited for ogcd stuff but thts just me.

Rice pretty much said all that I would say.

Try them both, train hard, and you will only gain added utility to your friends/parties and personal skill.

If you want to maximize raid output which job you pick should also depend on your PT setup. Having a caster heavy setup should lean towards bard, while a melee heavy would more be much more suited for MCH.

Got no clue of anything about mcn, but I do know bards have an edge in a1 and a2 due to multi doting. Combine this with the fact that the best dps in these encounters is smn....and bard starts to look mighty fine for that foe requiem too. "caster heavy setup" is almost irrelevant with smns pulling 2k+ in a2. Foe is stronk enough to be used with 1 good caster in the raid.

ofc that's only half the endgame raids, mcn could trumb brd in a3+4 who knows.

Anyone have a BRD parse of A1S? I can post a MCH parse but I can't really find many parses up.



If you were to account 10% of my DPS to the DRG they would be at 1128.

I did 880+ as BRD last night on our first A1S clear. And that included a death and alot of dots dropping because both opressors thought its nice to aim their lasers towards me while im casting ironjaws. Think its feasible to aim for 1000+ with better uptime on the dots and less ballad.

What was your group DPS? Looks like our encounter lasted for 8:24, and basing on that we should be quite a bit behind (i blame our BLM for pulling less than 800 ). Ours was 5.9k.

5286 was our party DPS with our SMN getting damage down at some point due to being too close to a missile. I had to use promotion during some of the uptime due to our healer MP getting low.
