I honestly feel betrayed by the red scrips. Am I alone in this feeling?

I currently am unable to raid because of my work schedule (not being able to raid at night due to early mornings shifts). Therefore, I have spent most of my time on gathering and crafting recently. I loved the intricacy of crafting. I loved the rewarding feeling of getting a lucis or M2 book. Despite the occasional frustration I still put in hours of my free time to get all 8 books, melded gear, lucis, etc. I loved the feeling of being able to sell/craft anything or calling my self a merchant.

That said, why are players like myself being punished? I was excited for the opportunities that an expansion would bring to crafters. I was excited to get back on the weekend grind of achieving omni-status again. So why SE? 66 weeks to get gear that should take a fraction of that time. I feel all my hard work just got thrown away. Am I alone in feeling this way? What are your thoughts? I hope this thread makes me feel differently.

They're trying to discourage Omni-crafters. The best way to do it would be to lock everything behind specializations, but instead they're making it take a long time to gear up, just like how fightman classes gotta. I think it's a potential misstep, cause omnicrafting makes it easier, not harder, to get scrip. I'd rather they put mastery books behind specializations and reduce the amount of scrip for reagents.

It's not discouraging omni-crafters though. In fact, it pushes everyone towards it. The specialization skills being worse than omni is just the start.

The biggest thing to discourage omni-crafters would be to not have nearly every single piece of gear require 4 professions to make.

If you liked where crafting was headed with 3 and 4 star, master 2 books, and ehcatl sealant, this update is for you: more RNG, more grind, less competition. If this is suddenly taking it too far, well... then you're in the same boat a lot of the rest of us have been in for over a year now. Pack in tight, the boat is getting rather full.

Ya if they were trying to kill the Omni-crafters they really have done a poor job of doing so. With every craft needing every other craft to make things with it kinda kills being a mono or duo crafter.

I'm not too fond of this update, I was kinda hoping for something like it was when I was reaching 50 and made my first one star thing. That wasn't so bad. This... on the other hand makes it feel less accessible. Still I'm waiting to see what it takes to get Red Scrips. I'm not too hopeful.

I have not touched my crafters since the expansion hit but I am looking forward to not having to get crafted gear and do all those F'ing melds again...that was some bull shite.
I like the new system of saving up Scrips to get gear "for free" in a sense with time like battle classes. The omnicrafting thing is a bummer because I would like all the specializations on the same character. I do not have the time to level two other alts to get all bases covered. I will have to pay the scrips to switch between the two I guess if that actually will work for what we need to do down the line.

specializations only give you some crappy skills, they don't limit the recipies/scripts in any way. And it's said you'll be able to get more souls of the crafters.

That's the issue, I agree. The real way to do it would be to make master books specialization only, cause they still want things to trade resources. As it is now it's better to be omni than not.

If you think that it takes 66 weeks to get the best crafting gear you haven't quite properly informed yourself.
It takes ~5 Weeks/crafter and thats if you dont buy mats - after all - red scrips materials are tradable.
170* melded is better than i180.

The red script gear isnt as good as the crafted set HQ and melded so its probably better to use the scripts on materials than gears
