It's easy to criticize WoW when its development team isn't the same one that put it on the map so many years ago. They used to do a lot better.I like how you compare it to WoW's class balancing. And even go into detail how much they care and how much effort they go into testing and talking with top guilds, etc. Because...
Disc priest, still the penultimate requirement for every raid, and a well played one makes some others obsolete(mistweaver).
How about that sweet frost DK buff then immediate nerf within 3 days after patch released? All that testing sure was useful.
Blood DK still one of the strongest tanks and capable of soloing even current content (looking at you solo lord kazzak kill)
Should I go on?
Not it didn't.
I don't get where this illusion comes from at all.
Hell it was even worse before.
You are a druid or paladin that wants to tank? hahahahaha
Reroll warrior or spec healer or be kicked, you choose.
Holy priests were the 1 true healer.
Mages talent spec were straight up decided by the raids what kind of spec they were, good look going fire in MC/BWL/onyxia's lair.
At least from vanilla and tbc back when i played wow class balance was a mess. Don't know how it went after but back when i came in MoP and WoD it was also a mess so i doubt it was magically balanced in WoTLK and cata.
Wow has been the absolute staple in class stacking to victory, something that screams broken class balance.

Wrath wasn't that bad, though that is forgotten in all the death knight hate. Not to mention the bulk of the issues were in PvP, if I recall (and even then, 2 and 3-man arena teams). You weren't having raids sit warriors or druids, despite being the less-represented classes (wrath was pretty much paladin & death knight time). If you did PvE it was a pretty good time to be a paladin or shaman or druid (since you could do something other than spam buffs or healbot in raids).
* The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
* Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)
Ret Paladin during WotLK was completely and ridiculously over powered compared to every other DPS. In PvP two paladins and a healer could take on an entire opposing team in war zones--we would literally stand at the opposing graveyard, wait for them to rez and then kill them all again--and in PvE they were killing things nearly twice as quickly as anyone else. And this came on the heels of ret paladins being so ridiculously under powered that no one played them. A rubber-band isn't good balance.Wrath wasn't that bad, though that is forgotten in all the death knight hate. Not sure about death knights. Trying to play one is actually what led to me quitting WoW the third (and final) time as that I wanted to do engineering on it and had to go back and mine low level areas and that's just completely unimportant. Point is I never got far with Death Knight.

Even in vanilla, balance was not good. Balance was a bit better in BC, but there were a lot of specs that were pretty much ignored.
Frankly, it's easy to criticize anything, but it is how you decide to criticize it. Criticizing FFXIV and using WoW as a "better example of balance", is pure folly.

Yoshida play a BLM
I don't know what the other dev members play.

Like others pointed out even Yoshi plays the game, he mains a black mage
Other members well who knows they have not exactly been in the spotlight
Yes they do play the game =) And also they are checking with Alexander Savage to see more insight as to the adjustments of all the jobs as of now base on how fast the top raiders clear it, team composition, dps and much more feedback. =) They have stated this before as well. If someone else could cite it, I appreciate it =)
