    Cross class skills and traits

    Anyone else thinks that Sqeenix passed a huge opportunity when they deciced to not release any new Cross Class choices and traits with Heavensward?

    Could have added some more diversity at level 60, right now everyone runs the same cross class skills and a lot of them aren't even worth taking...

    I like the idea, but tbh it would have boiled down to whats the best build and most would go with that.

    would be nice with 3.1 or 3.2 to get like 2-3 new traits to be quested @60, to be completed after the current final lvl60 job quest

    This ^ i do so quite hope they plan on implementing a new trait or two down the line here.

    i would also love to see a 6th slot opened up for additional actions.


    has anyone played Eden Eternal? i hop FF will eventually start doing something similar from that game. not saying FF should have an exact system like that, but... i don't think it would hurt to take at least one page from their book. the cross-class system in FFXIV is just very dull.

    Unless they made NEW cross class skills...it is barely worth having 5 for some jobs as usually the 5th one is not very useful. Bard...for example...for the fifth chooses Mantra or keen flurry...uh....what??? not that great....keen flurry was great though while leveling to 60...but now back to being Mantra, I guess....LOL.

    Feint. Insta-cast, useful on the move, makes us lose less DPS on the movement-heavy fights. Then again, if you never use minuet for prolonged periods of time, it's useless.

    in my opinion, they passed a huge opportunity not making new class actions.

    I was kinda thinking they could add more class actions, then make some existing ones cross class.
    For example in THM, they should have added Fire 4 and Bliz 4 (imo ofc) to the base class then made all Fire Bliz and Thunder 1s and 2s available to all DoMs (and some jobs like SMN). One benefit is that other DoMs will have more offensive options under their sleeves with Fire or Bliz 1 at 170 potency. Another side benefit is that DoMs will finally get the elemental diversity that's supposedly restricted the elemental strength / weakness. Likewise they could do the same with Stone and Aero, or perhaps Skull Sunder and Savage Blade will get their respective combos.

    Cross class skills will never be a true choice the way they are now.
    We are limited to a fixed number of slots, and that implies that all skills would need to have the same value - which they don't.

    So it's not a matter of adding more. It won't fix the problem, it'll merely hide it for a while.

    Cross class skills need to use a point-allocation system.
    It's a simple transition - instead of X slots, you get Y points.
    Then, SE can give each skill a value that closely resembles its overall usefulness, and thus make your choices real choices.
    This cost may even vary between class/job, because a single skill won't be equally valuable to all classes/jobs.
    Example: If your "cross-class skill capacity" is 20, and you equip a skill worth 6 points to your class/job, you are now at 6/20.

    Traits yes. The cross class system is so wonky.

    The hell am I supposed to do with Savage Blade and Skull Sunder?.... 2 years into the game and they're still there...
