What if it was just visible to the player?

But I LIKE being able to target them, just not in an instance where 50 other mobs are running around me in circles.
I like to interact with them in the overworld. But I don't see why I should have to disable that every single time I enter a dungeon and then turn it on again when I leave =_=
A good point, in which case a new option to disable targeting them in dungeons would be a great solution. But I LIKE being able to target them, just not in an instance where 50 other mobs are running around me in circles.

A true paladin... will sheathe his sword.
lol "server stress" c'mon guys :\ do you really fall for that excuse?
Make them non-targetable in dungeons, I don't see the problem? other games let you have pets in dungeons and nobody has issues with that.

You can set it up so you can only target them with weapon sheathed. I have my settings so only thing i can target when weapons drawn are enemies and objects (for dem mechanics), but with them sheathed I have it so I can target everything. But I LIKE being able to target them, just not in an instance where 50 other mobs are running around me in circles.

Sounds so pointless.
The minions are more than static meshes and blank actors. They have their own scripting that are continuously running when they are loaded. You will notice that even if you don't interact with them, they have their own movements and randomness of interactions, meaning, as soon as they are summoned their scripts are running. You open 2 million running scripts in the dungeon server and you can expect a slow response from the server. Your not simply loading up a picture here.
I've got nothing against minions, they're cute and all that, but I'll keep my baby opo-opo for around town play. When I zone in to a dungeon or raid, I'm there to play. There's a clearly defined goal for us to clear the content. When a magitek colossus, or other beastie of your choice comes barreling at me, I want to focus on what's happening. I don't need to see the entire band of wind up Scions getting in my way. If they implemented them in a way where a player can disable seeing other's minions, and especially to avoid targeting them without having to mess with all my target filtering, then I could at least offer a show of indifference. As it is, I prefer keeping them out of instances.
