Having trouble Getting and holding aggro after level 50

It's your gear + weapon, weapon dmg for every class in this game is HUGE most people you're grouping with probably have either their Zeta (ilvl135) or other high ilvl weapons. Once you catch up and get some more gear you'll be laughing at how easy you'll tank. Just be patient and it'll all come as a guy posted before, most people were running around in gear called "Slaying" in their right gear slots which is: Str, crit, determination which helps excel warriors (and other tanks) at tanking.

You're under geared vs over geared as been stated.

It's no different from a newbie tank in satasha vs i170 sync players.

You simply gotta do more of everything than usual. More than 2 over powers. Rotate aggro combo on all more than once and watch your bars. Your gear will be obsolete at 54. Time to upgrade. Tp burn is gonna be a nightmare but flash and nins can help ease the pain.

As others have said, it's your gear being weak compared to what others are wearing. That's understandable as a fresh 50. But I'll give you credit for rocking that Warrior look. So that's something!

You're gear is likely insufficient. 6k sounds mad low for someone level 53 but I haven't been 53 in about a month so maybe I'm wrong.

It IS mad low. 6k in Defiance? That's lower than some level 50 DPS (pre-Heavensward!). Your accessories really need love.

Most everybody you'll be running with has at least i115 gear, at LEAST, forget level synced level 60 characters—even the 50s. I had over 10k in Defiance at 50; that's the kind of gear standard most players are at, so your gear is just making this impossible for you. As people have been saying, you need to gear up, desperately. Get on those Poetics for now.

Also yes if you don't have Provoke yet drop everything and go get it. It's non-negotiable.

Thanks for all your help folks. Looks like I'll be finishing the MSQ. And concentrating on my gear stats more. And leveling my gladiator. A lot of good advice here.

It's your gear as other people have said before. You can probably just buy from the NPC's if you're not rich enough to afford some HQ sets from the Market boards and be fine. Can get everything but your accessories. Though if this is your first time through, quests will give you gear as well. But i'd still buy at least the npc gear atm until you get that far because 6k as a warrior is extremely low for Heavensward content, as a WAR.

My PLD and WAR are iLv123!? I only have issues in low-level dungeons (since folks like to still run ahead an pull even when I am holding 2 mobs). I can generally maintain control, but other than that, I'm usually golden, unless there's a higher tank there.

I DF'd T10 as PLD. There was a Lv60 WAR there (I was Lv50 PLD). Sadly, he would have to slow his dps because he would take hate even after I am bursting my abilities and he has no Defiance up nor using Butcher's Block. But when I'm paired with another tank that is under Lv55, it goes smooth.

Also reason you are losing hate to healers (don't feel bad though) probably they had to heal you too often and for alot. Like everyone said, try to upgrade your gear (weapon most important) get gladiator to at least 22 to get Provoke cross-class skill.

And I also advice you to get in to good , friendly FC and farm the dungeons Don't let up and most importantly have fun Warrior!
