I think the most annoying thing is seeing this ability on in mass, and on a busy server even now that Dark Knight Hype Train has died.. it still is on in mass lol. I just teleported to Idyllshire and there were 5 Dark Side Dark Knights all in the same screen, and 2 more on my left and right outside of screen sight. The skill ruins the atmosphere of the game, imo. If they were concerned about the /cool/ looking effect looking bad, then this one makes less sense xD. They already have a version that nearly everyone likes.. Personally I think a thick corrupted smoke looking effect out of combat and then dark fire (original) in would be cool, also smoke looks cool while moving and isn't too obtrusive, it makes trails..lol (but the original fire black and smoke one is great).
The skill is in such a way that I actually feel guilty not turning it off while waiting for a FATE to spawn or forgetting to turn it off before mounting onto my next destination. First thing I do when returning to town is turn it off.
In other words, I'm still enjoying the game but I'm also saying that at least personally it makes my visual experience less enjoyable than if I could turn it off or if it was changed.

Either remove it completely or change it to the level 50 npc aura, i turn it off every chance i get it's super annoying. If you must keep the aura make it temporary and not a permanent effect.

Signed. It needs to be fixed or removed, absolutely.

Please, SE.
...are you telling me the current one doesn't look unnatural?"While the black flame animation looked great while standing still, it began to look very unnatural in many other instances, such as moving or while mounted, and so on. As such the dev. team decided to remove this aspect of the effect."

I'd like to add my vote in favour of changing the effect.
It's a massive eyesore, very disruptive - both in battle and in towns, especially - and actually fatigues me after a while of looking at the screen with it active. It's such a huge, ephemeral effect that my eyes have trouble focussing on the immediate area around my character on the screen, giving me a headache after few dungeons.
That, and it also seems to be such a low-quality visual effect when compared with the usual Square Enix standard across the other jobs (and the game's battle effects in general). It simply looks rushed, and could do with some serious looking-at considering it was intended to be a persistent effect.
I also agree that the level 50 job quest NPC's effect looks 5000x better, and would love that to be its replacement - but again, anything would be better than the current effect, if only to prevent having to take some ibuprofen after every play session.
Not signed. I really like the aura. Imo it gives the dark knight some originality.
