Fishing Script Rant, Do you Fishers Agree?

Does anyone else notice how much more difficult it is for us to get our scripts?

I've been collecting scripts on all 3 gathering classes for a while now trying to get all the folklore and I've noticed that fishers have a much harder time.

What i've been doing is i'll take the top 3 for 10,12,2 from botany/miner ( depending on what Rowena wants that day. ) and consistently get those... easily... ( so 12 x 60+ scripts an hour with the amount of GP I have ) In between the gathering nodes for BNT/MNR I'll fish for the script fish...

Sometimes I'll get lucky and and get 3 or so in that time but other times I get nothing ( for example I just went 4 fishing periods / 2 hours without a SINGLE fish with a high enough rating to keep ). I could spend hours fishing and get nothing ( even with Perception Food and 3.0 lvl 60 gear + some superficial melds until we get AF2 )

... meanwhile BTN and MNR have a much easier time getting their collectables...

Here is my complaint. They get more scripts for something easier to obtain with less RNG?!!??

With the RNG involved in fishing I think the rewards yielded should be higher OR the threshold to keep something for scripts should be LOWERED. Especially with the ridiculous cost of these folklore tomes. I'll get the 99 tolkens for each book no problem ( merely because I do work on all 3 classes ) but this system does not at all help people who only focus on one gathering class. Most of all fishers.

Updates from fishing purgatory~

I've now collected only 2 and its been 3 hours of gathering now..

Fishing for scripts hardly seems worth it.. which is a shame. It is my favorite gathering class.

FSH for scrips worked fine for me. Best times were ~500-600 scrips per 15-20 mins with Cordials. Though overall it's not too difficult to farm the 4950 scrips needed for a book in a day. This was with lvl 55 Gear and the lvl 58 Scrip gear afterwards.

Illuminati Perch + Goblin Jigs can be caught all day. Straight Catch or mooch. Patience+Powerful

I've been using the skills as well and cordials and still nothing. lol. I feel like i'm just unlucky.

Also wanted to add... I'm also using Goblin Jig & the skills I feel aren't as useful in equality to their cost. Even using Powerful my fish still get away wasting the ( 2 minute??!?!?! wtf SE ) buff and even with the help of Cordials ( and their insanely long CD ) you end up spending a lot of time standing around waiting for GP so you can lose your fish again.. It's honestly pretty dumb.

Waiting for GP was one of the reasons I liked fishing more than MNR / BNT and now it seems like we don't have a choice if you want to get anything done in a timely manner.

So I don't know how in the world you got that much in 15-20 minutes without some kind of divine intervention from RNGesus.

It took me a week of fishing ( almost straight, not running anything really aside from dailies ) to get my first book. When I saw how long it took I gave in and worked on my BTN and MNR to make my life easier.

If you really loved fishing as you say, you would know that it is the general fishing rule, and also you already know to whom pray .

Btw in a normal game day i got 5-6 collectable illuminati perch high enough, and like 18 not high (without using cordials)

edit: i feel worst btn & min have to wait a whole day for collect from a node instead that just sit and throw ur line and pray.

I don't know what to tell you. Right now scrips seems extremely easy to get as a fisher. I enough scrip for all my trail blazer gear before I could even use it.

The only tip I can offer is to make sure you learn what sounds the scrip generating fish make. You shouldn't be using your skills while under patience for every hit. It's a GOOD thing to loose hits while under patience to minimize the time you spend and the lose of GP reeling in fish that aren't collectible. That is why I use live bait.

P.S. One more possible tip. You can make a lot of scrip off of level 56 and 57 fish. Maybe it's easier to land HQ level 56 and 57 fish than the level 59 Perch?

Yeah I had no problem getting the fishing gear. Thats small potatoes compared to the 9 books. I got enough for the gear just turning in to get to 60 which was nice. But by then my husband had made me the level 60 gear so it was kinda silly haha. Anyway ill have to double back and check out the other fish.... because even listening to the sounds... all the HQ fish sound the same to me unless its a Big Fish ( the highland )... so I end up getting silly amounts of HQ Phil. Stone and and HQ Shipworms. XD

Just because I love something doesn't meant I can't be frustrated.

Frustration was something taught to forget by silver sovereign, olgoi and other ones long long time ago.
Past that you achieve the nirvana while fishing

anyway wich are your stats? with lvl 60 stuff and goblin jig should not have any trouble at all. Are you sure your not letting pass some fish 826+, it happened me couple times that i was waiting 850+ lol until then i realized had lost like 4 826-840 fish hahahaha
By the way im just have lvl 58 scrips stuff (and lucius rod) and also simple melds on jewerly (578 gp only) and is not so bad caught them

Maybe I just have more melds but on a single gp food cycle (makes patience and powerful hookset easier to use without waiting for gp to build) I catch 10-12. I also use cordials to maximize my time using patience . Now I only fish on days when it's on bonus. If I can clear out more retainer inventory I'll probably start casually fishing and store them until a bonus day.

Anyway point is I'm catching 10x as many in only a 4th of the time.

Another tip is to only reel in on cast that vibrate twice. That's the sweet fish or illuminati perch. I use a controller and feel the controller rumble to identify the fish. I'm not sure if there is a visual difference between the single and double vibrates(sorry if you a keyboard and mouse player). The only big catch is the Highland and I recommend catching it. I went through 14 jigs in a day from not catching them, although skipping the animation did save alot of time and gp.

I find it alot easier to catch scrips for fisher than do my BTN. Just sit in one place then use patience then cordial to replenish GP. Not that hard IMO.
