SE doesn't care if an item is recolored or not. Again, that's not the point of the Armoire. Its sole use is to give you an alternative to throwing away equipment that is no longer useful, but can't be replaced. Lunar, Green, Striped, Black swimsuits? All storable. Coeurl, Sea Breeze? Not storable. All recolors of the same model. Why the difference? The former are event items and one-time bonuses. The latter are crafted and obtained by desynthesis. Throw away the latter, and you can desynth more fish to replace them. Throw away the former? Your only hope is for them to eventually appear at the Mogstation Store, or from the Calamity Salvager. In this case, if you dropped your Black swimsuit, you're out of luck, as it is not available in either. Good thing we have the Armoire!

It's not good to think of the Armoire as another page of inventory that's just less convenient to access. That's not what it is. It's provided as a courtesy, to save folks the stress of losing certain items forever simply because they don't have the luxury of enough space to hold them. Things that can't be lost forever? They will never be part of the armoury, no matter how obnoxious it was to obtain them. AF2 falls squarely in that category; obtaining them may be time consuming, but if you throw one on the ground, you can just go through the same process to get another.

You might ask why, if this is what the Armoire is for, you CAN still store items that can be re-obtained from the Calamity Salvager? Simple - by the time the items were added to the Salvager, a ton of people were already storing those items. It would cause irritation, to say the least, if SE were to suddenly delete all those items. So, once storable in the Armoire, always storable in the Armoire.
