    Driving a wedge between DoW/M and DoH/L

    In the past, there's always been a symbiosis between the two. Crafters made gear from mats from DoL and DoW. DoW could grind tomes to spend on certain mats that could be made into gear that was generally 2nd BiS after melding, or just good enough as a place holder while they continued to grind for their BiS.

    Now, the new mats that should be from tomes are instead from scrips. and not just scrips, they also require some mats that are from who knows what yet, likely some sort of gatherer scrip item (those oldoids and what not). to top it off, with only 450 scrips a week, no serious crafter is gonna spend limited resources to make this stuff, which you can't even make unless you are really well melded already.

    On top of that, the new crafted DoW/M gear is mostly reskins...so so much for the glamour aspect. And the new esoteric gear outclasses the crafted gear by an absurd amount, so much that they're not even in the same league.

    my point is the crafted gear is not even good enough as placeholder towards getting raid and tome gear. in the past, its always been atleast that.

    It was a point made months ago that crafted gear would have no place in raids. They don't like people clearing these things in the first week at lest not that way.

    Then why does it exist at all? People will clear content in the first week regardless.

    Rather than have the stupid gil sink that is the materia system why not just have the crafted gear take no melds and upgraded to Esoteric ilvl using tokens purchased with Esoterics. For example, the i180 chest could be upgraded with an 825 Esoteric token that raises it to i200. This would allow crafted gear to provide another set of secondary stats that is gated by the weekly tome cap just as tome gear already is. DoW/DoM get a third set of stat options and DoH/DoL is no longer a pyramid scheme.

    I'd love for a dev (or anyone for that matter) to explain to me why this wouldn't work. At the very least explain to me why we even have DoW/DoM crafted gear for 3.0 seeing as nearly every recipe is a fucking palette swap.

    Then what is the point of fully upgraded LAW I ask? Does it not serve the same purpose?

    Yoshi may as well just delete all the crafting classes, we have no point other than crafting for other crafters or furniture, oh wait, we buy materials off the DoW/M, so without us they would have to figure other ways to make gil?

    This patch has drained any motivation I had for bothering with crafting anymore, the red scrips are pathetic and geared towards the richest crafters (almost a complete set of crafted by the time you get 1 weapon), gear which doesn't even touch law, it's not fun, I can't see any point in continuing to be a crafter when we're getting nothing in return from the dev's except a kick in the teeth.

    they could limit the amount of crafted gear you can wear. for example , with every week that passed after the release of new gear, you can wear 1 more crafted armor piece at the same time.
    Or even better, they could allow wearing crafted battle gear only while your ilvl is under a certain value. then they can increase this value weekly/monthly at the same pace an average player would improve his gear when doing raids/farming tomes. This way they could make strong crafted gear without worrying about raiders gaining a big advantage from it.
