What I want to know is what the point of the ilvl 180 vendor gear is. It looks absolutely ridiculous to get but it doesn't look like you can meld it? I don't see any materia holes on it anyways >.> seems a bit pointless.

It's just an option that doesn't require gil. It's not bis, but it will get the job done.

The scripts are not out but the npc that exchange them is there already, also it have the price for the items.

Gear is already sold in idyllshire, new crafting mats which require red scripts too.

Right, but why even bother with getting a single piece of gear that when it takes more than a couple of weeks to get with scrips if its not even going to be bis? Its really silly imo.

Scrips gear was designed for people that did not wish to pay the expense that comes with HQ hear and melding. Lots of people will go this route. It will require a different rotation and presumably HQ materials during crafting, but it looks fine enough to do the lvl 60 2 star recipes. Also, the crafted HQ gear will not be easy, a lot of people will end up making NQ and wasting mats. The gear also will not be BiS without T5 materia in it, which atm are very scarce.

When I saw both the i180 token gear and the i170 crafted gear, I was under the assumption that you would need the i180 token gear to even get close to HQing any of the 2-star items, and when you finally got your fill i170 crafted set, that would simply make it easier to HQ the 2-star items. Here's for hoping that grade 5 materia won't be stuck to mutamix conversions until a later patch ...
