I would say get rid of the character limit, since it does nothing in the wake of the workaround of editing posts.
Post limits feel like they are needed, it got pretty bad before it was brought in.
You've had 9 posts since May 2015. Your reply is also under 1,000 characters and is still able to get your point across to the community.
The current limits far exceeds what you and most users actually use everyday.
Every so often we do need to bypass the 1,000 character limit to explain something in detail but most of the times, no.
Both the limits are fine.
Subjectivity at its best.
Tell me, why preventing people from flooding the boards, making threads even bigger than they already are (you know, when page 3 is the same as page 54 where people are still arguing about the same stuff over and over again) is a bad thing?
Tell me, why making the overall moderation easier is a bad thing?
Tell me, why is making people focus on some subject instead of posting everything in a giant mess is a bad idea?
I'm not making a strawman argument here. Daily post limits do prevent big thread flood, do make moderation easier and do reduce the amount of overall bullsh*t. It's not my opinion and I'm not making that up, these are logical facts.
What I said was that these facts are beneficial in some way and that I wasn't sure that removing that limit would be better. Hell that was my first sentence about the subject "But the 20 posts per day? I don't know...".
So, yeah, keep calling someone a white knight or a fanboy just because that person found some logical arguments that you can't even contradict. You'll go far. Or not.
I was gonna make a long and argumented answer to your post, responding to every paragraph you wrote. But then I came to that particular one.
This last paragraph confirm what I though: you don't care about flood and moderation and you don't think that's required to have a healthy environment. Using one of the most toxic community in games as a "proof" just confirmed that. You are not on the LoL forums.
You also don't even know what you post yourself (see your paragraph about short sentences, when your posts history is full of that) and want your unlimited posts so hard that you fail to see the obvious upsides of control methods in a forum.
You just want your thing. You don't care about anything else.
I'm done. I'm so done. I can't argue with entitled people who only want to see their own benefits, even if you throw logical elements and facts for them to understand. You even contradict yourself in only 8 words: "It is useless. You found one debatable use" -> If someone can find a use for something, then it's not useless.
... And you are the one who says "LOGIC PLS!". Damnit.
Whatever.
As I and other said, you're not the first one to come for that, and you won't be the last. (Hint: it means that you're burning your today's daily post for nothing. Besides, yes, this is "General discussion", not "Webside feedback & suggestions".)

It is annoying but it does limit the wall of texts people would be putting up if the did away with the character limit and the post count restrictions does cut down on trolling.
Sure people can edit and bypass it but usually dont because it's bothersome.
I don't post too frequently, but yesterday was patch day and a slow day at work, there were lots of people who made stupid threads so maybe I got a bit carried away and discovered there was a max post limit.
To me it's kind of odd to have this, but it's only effected me once, so no big.
YES, YES, YES, TWENTY THOUSAND TIMES YES!!!!!!
As for the character limit - it's annoying, it's nothing but an unnecessary obstacle to overcome, and the fact that bypassing it is so extremely easy just makes it even more that. Nothing but a punishment for every single person who would actually want to go on discussing thing, helping out others, etc. It actually helps flood, when the new people don't know about the workaround and make 3-6 posts describing whatever their issue is, instead of posting it in one. I'm also very much fed up with the fact that 9 out of 10 times I want to post something on here, I either have to first type it in Notepad, post one sentence of it, only to have to edit and insert the rest and save the post - or I just type it in, click Post, only to be taken to the advanced editing page saying I'm 40-100-400 char above the absolutely pointless limit. Like, for sanity's sake, this is a forum, it's meant for discussions, it's not bloody Twitter!!Just maddening.
As for the daily post limit... well, yeah, there have been occasions when I actually hit it and of course I realised that when I wanted to post an explanation or some such in a thread, effectively trying to help out others. WHY????
...and for the record ^ I can't post this simply either, because it's 247 character over the limit. JUST REMOVE THE BLOODY LIMITS ALREADY, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.![]()
Comparing these forums to the WoW forums, I can't agree with removing the 20 post limit. In the WoW GD forums, the useless threads completely outnumber the worthwhile, and it's sad. People post to troll, to be "first" posting in a thread, to "post in a epic thread" and forum threads often devolve into name calling and/or borderline ERP... it's just ridiculous. I think the daily post limit probably cuts down on the trash posts here, since folks need to think a bit and not waste their posting allowance.
Just my two cents. :-)
