Hey SE, about that AF2 armor

    Firstly, compliments to the artists.

    Now then...

If we go by the patterns of ARR, this armor is going to be obsolete by patch 3.2. Ok, vertical progression, I get it. Not itself a huge deal...

Problem is (still going by the patterns of ARR) the next sets of gear are going to be shared. 1 set for the 3 healers, 1 set for the 3 tanks, 1 for casters, 1 for ranged... with only melee getting job-specific sets. This really makes it a problem for those of us that like to use bits and pieces of AF gear for glamor but that play multiple jobs.

Now, I understand it's not feasible to make job-specific gear all the time, so I have an alternative to propose.

We already have an upgrade system in place for AF2 gear...

...why not just keep that going? No appearance variation needed. Just let us upgrade it to the top tier ilvl come 3.2, 3.4, and so on.

I wish we had an option to make glamoring job/class specific. I think that might be a hell of a lot easier to do than give all jobs new or even different variation of the current sets. That way when the new armor sets come out, rather than have all your, say, healers look the same, they can a least allow us to glamor them different while wearing the same set of gear and they can give us to dye the AF2 armor in 3.1 or 3.2.

Will still be there. I'm not suggesting they never add new armors. What I would like, though, is the option to keep using the AF2. Shouldn't take much in the way of dev resources to add a few more upgrade items that give the existing AF2 an ilvl boost... when vertical progression inevitably marches on.

That's mostly what inspired this post. They said they didn't want to increase the amount of information attached to items (which would be needed for job specific glamors), so... I thought this might be a workable alternative.

Hello crafter! I'm sorry, but I play several jobs, so your wares won't work in this case.

How about the fact that before I could spend 825 tomes get a body for my PLD and WAR. Now its 825 tomes for PLD and another 825 for WAR. The 450 weekly cap is WAY too restricting.

In this aspect they've actually improved. At launch we had not only job-specific equipment, but the cap was 300 tomes a week! And there were no roulettes, no daily bonuses, etc.

Now it's much easier and, well, there's Alex for shared gear now, and the next ilvl cycle the gear will all be shared again. I'm not so worried about this because it will quickly pass.

    In other words...

Tell that lazy ass of a blacksmith to stop making kettles and reforge our AF2 into AF2+x
After all his experience forging the Zodiac Weapon, this should be a piece of cake for him.

Currently we have Glamour: project the looks of a lower iLv item onto a higher iLv item.

Now we want Reforge: upgrade the stats of a lower iLv job-specific item to that of a higher iLv item. Can only be used to upgrade armor from job-specific sets.

Honestly my suggestion is ultimately glamor related... the current system breaks down over the whole JSE vs shared gear thing. My thinking was either equivalent cost in tomestones and/or raid tokens to upgrade, so it could always be current.

That said, I definitely wouldn't be opposed to something in the spirit of the relic lines. Only problem is those tend to play catch up with the top tier raid gear, so we'd be stuck with shared gear again.
