Are there even any AST A3S clears since 3.07 patch? Currently working on AST + SCH in AS3. It's a tough nut.

Yeah, I am in need of some tips for A3 savage but finding any sort of information is difficult at the moment.

The short version of it, AST is viable to replace SCH but not WHM, however SCH is still better.
The long version, AST gives piety as a party bonus stat, that alone is almost enough to not want it as a WHM replacement, if you also consider WHM aoe heals you just won't even think about replacing WHM.
Replacing the SCH is viable since you have more utility, but SCH is still far better since he can do more damage, more damage mitigation, help heal at the same time he dps (selene) and he also brings some utility (selene).

I've played as both AST and WHM in savage with a SCH healing partner; any healing combination is viable, IMO.

The only thing White Mage has against Astro in AoE healing is really just Cure 3 and an OGCD Medica (Assize). I would think AST can easily replace WHM for A3S.

Divine Seal and Medica II is also significantly more powerful than what AST can muster for AoE healing, especially given Divine Seal's cooldown--it can be up for every other Medica II if you're getting the full mileage out of the HoT portion. AST can probably replace WHM, but losing the MND bonus cuts heal and DPS potency both, so WHM/SCH is probably still the stronger combo.

Raid Update:

• Replaced Ninja with a Warrior
• Old Warrior going Dragoon (behind in gear)
• Scholar left due to real life schedule not providing her any time to raid
• Picked up a White Mage
• I'm filling the Scholar role as an AST, but can change between the two

Cleared AS2 as of Sunday after all that happened. Healed in Nocturnal and had White Mage pseudo-solo heal. I didn't get to DPS as much as I would like, but as our White Mage becomes more familiar with the fight, I think we'll finally be able to let him solo heal while I feed him Ewers & and whatnots when I get the chance to.

Synastry is still beyond amazing, especially since there's no AoE healing required in AS2. My DPS is still mediocre, especially when compared to how awesome Aero III and 3-Dot Banes are, but the Expanded/Extended/Enhanced Balances are disgustingly awesome, and opening with Spear does wonder with my own MP. Not really much to say on my part besides the RNG Spires that enable my Bard to skip playing TP song.

Holding around 600 ~ 650 DPS, but am dropping to 400 because I have to jump out of Clerics to catch up on healing and currently unable to DPS until tornado phase because our WHM runs out of MP during the hand split.

Not much to say until we iron out the little things, but AS3 is fun.

Was killed before the patch with a AST actually.

Also I have killed it with AST / SCH

It was actually easier for our group because we lacked some dps.

The card buff clearly was huge.
