Not to keep hate up...i mean to use deflection to link the room safely. I really doubt even with touch of rage IV in both weapon and waist GLa can keep hate anyway...War Drum is just not enough for them.
maybe mrd should be wearing touch of serenity materia (pretty much everyone who isnt tanking should have this actually) and along with collusion, out of sight... NOT intimidation.. chameleon, subtle release and quelling strike.
there are a ton of ways to not take threat
the glads need some help keeping hate, it is perfectly possible for a glad to keep hate... just requires help from the party
If your tanking on mrd then go ahead and stack emnity of course.

I dont think they nerfed MRD, actually they made it better than it was in patch 1.18. They reduced the potency of brutal swing, skull sunder, brandish, and trunk splitter, but buffed storms path. I can spam storms path with a 10 sec cooldown and do 700 - 900 damage to R45 - R50 enemies in a radius and generate good enmity also. MRD is also a pretty damn good tank now, I have 3300+ HP in a full pt and can hold hate and stay alive with several R45 mobs on me.
Touch of serenity is completey counterproductive IMO. Storm path right now can make MRDs point and laugh from ptovoke's enmity.maybe mrd should be wearing touch of serenity materia (pretty much everyone who isnt tanking should have this actually) and along with collusion, out of sight... If a MRD is not tanking, he MUST start or using off-tank gear or acting likr FFXI THF with Collusion. Intimidation + Touch of rage + Collusion + Storm Path = Lifetime enmity to whoever receives the effect.
The only risk is actually Storm Path not work with collusion or even worse...do radial enmity spread. I say this because Storm Path is a targetless WS...so if it happens to have, as example, MRD in center then a player then a monster that take tamage from storm paths, if collusion is working as enmity spread anyone in this situation might receive enmity, messing completely the party enmity.
Later on i'll try this...it's pretty simple to check if it's working if you have another 2 players to help. just need to align mob > player1 > mrd > player2 > mob targeted by mrd and use collusion...if MRD stay with enmity, collusion doesn't work with Stormm Path...if only player2 gets enmity, it's working as intented...and if both player1 and player2 get enmity, then collusion is making it spread enmity.
I've been concerned about Marauder's enmity generation. I was leveling up to get Defender II on my Gladiator. And recently acquired Maim and now Storm's Path. It's so delicious! As is the enmity that comes with.
At least the healers should be lower on the totem poll.
I wonder what happens if a Gladiator uses Accomplice on us?
Still learning the ropes myself.
Little tip to my MRD brothers and sisters.
Standing behind the mob with 2000+ TP
Maim => Murderuos Intent + Ferocity + Raging Strike + Blindside => Heavy Swing
And with 550 Attack, you will most certainly take advantage of your own Maim effect.
Have fun out there.
Do murderous intent first.
I'm usually the tank so what I have to do is run behind the mob first. Kinda annoying.

My Threads: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/s...vBForum_Thread
This. Because Murderous intent last long enough for both. I don't suggest using all these buffs though. At least for me maim effect would end midbuffs due game latency...so stacking 4 actions (counting heavy swing and not counting murderous intent) is too "risky".
Now that the TP gain is fixed in 500/swing, i'd rather use:
MI > Maim > Heavy Swing > Buff > Skull Sunder
or
MI > Maim > Heavy Swing > Broad/Full > Brutal Swing
or
MI > Maim > Heavy > Full > Broad > Storm Path
I'm counting only 3 actions during the 10 seconds because it's my "safe limit"...you can add some buffs there you you don't have bad latency like i do. From these combos, i'd rather use last one...right now i do am seeking Storm Path since it's dealing like 3x Skull Sunder average damage (like 2x if you count the DoT effect os it).
For frontal business i would stick with Transcedence + Absorb-ATK. It's lasting 1min20' now...so you can keep it going full time since the effect lasts longer than recast. I just don't know how well it's accuracy on big dudes...at 50ish mobs i'm having some very decent magic acc even without rings so i still believe DRK-Wannabe setup is valid.

Very true.Do murderous intent first.

Since I use a controller it's very easy for me to unlock target, run straight until behind the mob, lock on target which turns me around, and then hit them from behind.
Hitting them with Jarring Strike or Leg Sweep first makes it even easier.
Good to hear magic can be useful on melee.

I heard Drain got a nice boost as well, may need to try that out.
