Can we make PVP gear relevant?

Ok, part of me liked how Frontlines removed the issue of newcomers being unable to do anything that Wolves' Den did, but PVP gear is literally useless, especially the newest set. At least the old level 50 sets could be taken back to Wolves' Den if you ever scrounged up folks for it, but the new item level 180 gear is level 60, not 50. And the only level 60 PVP mode is yet another Frontlines mode, where morale bonuses and materia do not apply, and it has an item level sync of 150.

Could we perhaps have a new mode where morale and PVP materia apply? Or make them at least have SOME benefit in Frontlines?

Yeah, I have always felt it was kinda pointless to have pvp gear that the stats are only used in dead content.

To be fair, A LOT of non-pvpers would compain about how its unfair that blah blah blah can do this much blah blah blah coz they have morale, or blah blah blah, my CCs arent as strong on them. ETC ETC.

I personally would support this, not only because the current incentive to pvp is just ADS mount and IMO an ugly 60 pvp set, this would make the whole reason of ranking up and getting WMs worthwhile to have advantages in pvp outside the pts to spend on boosting your pvp skills.

Well, I wouldn't mind just having a SMALLER bonus in frontlines. I do agree when Wolves' Den first came out, Morale was broken and made it impossible for new players to catch up... but with Frontlines as the ONLY pvp mode people do, and the newest gear not even working in the only content morale works on... yeah...

They need to make Unranked (No Moral bonus) and Ranked (Moral bonus) matches on all forms of PVP.

This equates to the same thing, except in Unranked PvP gear would make you worse off than PvE gear and in the later patches until 3.2 when more pvp gear is added, any new PvE gear over i210 would again be better than PvP gear

Morale no longer provides damage bonus and resistance, it buffs the ilvl of the gear its attached to, so this solution ultimately would not work

Ranked mode needs a combination of ilvl cap AND no materia restrictions imo, if you dont have a cap there will always be a point where players at the current pve endgame will have higher stats than those who dont, giving them an advantage in a mode that has nothing to do with PvE

Once ranked is added in 3.2 and they add more sets, they need to unlock the rank requirement of the i180 pvp set (or make a plain skin set with the same stats), reduce the cost of it from 93150 wolf marks to 20300 or 10150 and set the ranked ilvl cap to 210.

This allows people who want to do ranked:

    * Not have to go through a stupid amount of grind to get access to ranked mode

    * Gets them into an (almost) stat capped set of gear for the mode quickly, roughly 85 lvl 50 wolves den wins or 10-12 days of doing 1 frontline roulette, the main reason for this is that the main stats (vit, mind, etc) will be on par with everyone else regardless of gear, while still allowing for customization and progression from materia and different secondary stats

    * Still allow to use PvE gear to start if its high enough, this opens the mode up to PvE players who want to dabble in ranked without having to grind the pvp set out while also not giving them an advantage (cant put pvp materia on pve gear, blue gear doesnt have materia slots anyway, etc)

    * Removes powercreep like the old morale system, if you were rank 40 in the old system with a full hellwolf set and you fought people who were rank 0 but the same ilvl gear without morale, you dealt 32% ish more damage to them and took 32% ish less damage from them, it was such a dumb system and no one misses it

I really have problem understanding why is it so hard to implement PvP materias and Morale for frontlines.
To me it seems like any small update for PvP is taking and will take atleast 1 year.

Materia restriction was a design choice to make it an even playing field, its a casual game mode and they are catering to that

Morale DOES work in frontlines, but many people dont actually understand how it works

Right.. it works if you're gear is ilvl 140 with +10 morale on it but wait. . . there's no i140 pvp gear.

@op I'd love to see an unrestricted materia, unsynced mode added to all forms of pvp.

...Morale increases the ilvl of items before the sync happens, it was useful in i80 sync to get i90 secondary stats over the i80 cap, because alot of i90 pvp armor didnt have capped secondary stats

Just because there isnt gear for this to apply in the new mode doesnt mean it's not working, thats like saying the sun only works when its day time, what a stupid thing to say

the fact that your example was i140 +10 morale, which after the morale would still have less stats than an i180 synced down because it meets the i150 stat caps, whereas the i140+10 doesnt, shows that you are one of the people that doesnt understand how the morale system works

They should at least have made the new gear i190 (vs. 180) in PVE so it wouldn't occupy this 'meh' middle ground it does now where by the time you get to the ranks to equip it you'll easily have gear at that iLvl or better. If it was i190, that would give more people an incentive to PVP and rank up... remember when we got a new stat last year to account for the fact morale was dead in PVE? A lot of gear went from 'lol glamour/look at this guy wearing PVP gear in PVE that's missing a secondary stat' to people wanting it. And then the higher level gear came out and demand went down. Esoteric cap sucks in relation to cost for equipping every single separate job and having this gear be 190 (just like people can now get farming Alexander) would have made it relevant. But NOPE! Can't wait to buy i180 to replace i180 or glamour under i190, I've actually held off on upgrading my caster hands from i170 to i180 so I don't feel like a total sucker when I move to the PVP ones. Someone could make the point that it's going to take forever to get the Myth v2 (i.e. Esoteric tome gear) so this will work as stand-ins- but not really when i190 is accessible through Alexander, which just about anyone who's level 60 can do (a few DF people I've seen excepted). I've only done it for a couple weeks and I have 3 i190 caster accessories and an i190 hat for when my Bard gets to lvl 60. Anyone who thinks Party Finder min requirements on average aren't going to climb upwards from i180 fast is deluding themselves.

For the rank 45+ people (you know, the ones who have sustained the PVP community all this time) I'm not quite sure what we got in terms of utility... and gear shouldn't already be relegated to glamour status upon release.
