Did you try it on something close to your rank, or something like a star Marmot?What I've noticed it takes 15 seconds or so for the spell to actually go off, at which point the status will go away. Since you're effectively putting down a proximity mine I believe the spell stays there if you stay in the immediate area and something wanders into the AOE. I played around with it a little recently and it seemed to work that way.
Apparently one of the other language's patch notes say they are insta-cast instead of single target.
If it's like a proximity mine, itll really suck on Ifrit to use since he jumps around a lot.
