Alex Savage dps requirements?

look at some world top 10 opressor parses, required heals are so high that 1 healer is almost always at 0 dps and the other at 200.

But go on, tell your healers they need to do 500 dps and then cry at them when someone dies.

Not sure if I got a world top ten (killed it yesterday evening EU), but we did a combined 400dps between us for Oppressor, if you don't like DPS healers that's fine, but leave this thread to those that want to discuss the need for it given the current status of people's gear.

Sidenote, it's possible to safely DPS (as SCH anyway) after the Oppressor split, whilst my DPS halfed after the transition, I still found opportunities to dot safely. Good communication with my WHM was paramount though <3

Stepped in last night. Defintely a fun fight and faust is a good roadblocker. I don't think we will kill oppressor this week. I hope for next week, when ppl got more gear from Alex Normal, esp. Chest + Legs. But it's nice to have some new hard fights and it seems A3S is pure buttfisting when I read reddit about it

I find it very funny that so many people are in a rush to down Alex Savage as fast as possible with it being out less than 2 days....seriously. If you clearly look at the design in which SE and YoshiP are taking with FF14......Savage is clearly designed to appease the Hardcore players in the game while normal is for casuals and progressives. Noone to my knowledge has cleared A3 yet and I hope that noone does for a while. I respect any hardcore raiding FC who does these things and thats what drives them and if you are in one of these FCs.....good for you. I am a mixture of a casual to a progressive player myself....I have no desire to go into Alex Savage anytime soon since once I do complete it....what else do I have to do for 3 months til 3.1....nothing but do the exact same fight over and over again for weeks, to me thats boring but for some that works. Enjoy the game for what it is....stop complaining about the Esoterics cap....stop complaining on trying to get SE to nerf the DPS needed if your not that good at the job you are on or go play something else. This is by far the best MMORPG on the market today and if its not good enough for you.....I do not know what would be.

before you cry about healer dps, the actual dps have to gid gud and do their 1.3-1.4k dps on the nonmoving target that doesnt do any AEs or mechanics.

Just how many dps players do you see pulling that 1,4k dps? 1,3k is manageable with the current gear, but 1,4k is really pressing it. Probably only the very best players with the very best group synergy with their cooldowns will be hitting 1,4k.

So, while Perfection is to be expected from the dps, it's alright for the healers to show a mediocre performance? Afking the first half of the fight, and only then really starting to actively heal?

Healer priority should be healing. Tank priority should be tanking. Dps need to do the vast majority of the dps. However; at this point, the raid wide dps is a group effort. Not contributing to the effort on non-healing/mana-starving parts means that you're only hindering your whole group. Expecting the dps players to do 1,4k dps with current gear, you should expect as good a performance from the healers. And yes, that is more than just watching 2 Health bars on a progressive burn fight. Healers should be dpsng during pull when there's 0 stacks on Faust and a minor quantity of adds at tops.

Of course this whole discussion is void when we out-gear the content one day.

Scholar dps has always been crucial in the first/undergeared clears.

On Faust some of those numbers are inflated, especially for SMN and SCH dps. I as a SMN pulled 1400 on Faust but my numbers we're inflated from deathflare and shadowflare(SCH same thing) hitting adds. We killed Faust with a pug BLM replacing are MNK, and he was i180 with and i180 weapon.

Healer DPS is always situational. Are your tanks doing fine? Are your party members doing fine? How is your MP? All of those things matter before I even flip on Cleric Stance.

For Faust, as a WHM, I put Regen on both tanks, Medica II for extra regen tick, Asylum where MT was holding Faust. Presence of Mind + Stone III, with Aero, Aero II, and Aero III always ticking on the boss. Eventually, I'd have to switch into healing, especially when Medica II and Asylum wore off. Given our MT is still rocking some i170 gear, I think the SCH and I were forced to heal probably a little more than most groups, but the overall DPS allowed for it.

If you look at damage required for faust alone, it is only about 5900-6000 raid dps on him. Whatever your group has to do to reach this number is what you have to do. This number doesn't include any pad damage that is happening on adds if you are tanking them close to faust. It really isn't that bad. It took my group about 7 or 8 attempts the first night, but after that we have 1 shot it every time. It is really just about knowing how to min max your single target dps. If it looks like it might enrage, I also suggest spreading out at about the 2:40 mark. He enrages at like 2:44. This will stop him from 1 shotting the entire raid with a single cleave attack, and let you drag the fight out for 5 to 10 more seconds while you get a little more dps out.

heheh, yea.... i for example just wanted to see if i'm doing my job nice. (for those who are against healer dpsing: it was needed. we just killed it 1 sec before Faust enrage. didnt have a bard in group)

i did 590 dps / 1585 hps as sch
the whm did 130 dps / 3260 hps

we healers agreed on both healer dpsing until fairy cant handle it alone and then whm starting to heal and dps and later focus heal (and might use the dot when having a sec)
i as sch joined healing when it became hard for whm alone to heal them both up and did still refresh my dots when the tanks hp allowed it.
that's at least how we managed to kill Faust after 4 tries first time.

Tip: Have all the jobs that can cross class Mantra to take it. +5% to heals is still 5% XD More jobs that have, longer it can be kept up. Pre-pull. Mantra, crit Adlo then deployment tactics means healer can DPS hard at the start, works on Oppressor also.
