Well, you can't heal stupid, but my raid group is good enough to stand inside it, at least.
Well, when I start a dungeon there's usually a clear difference between a DRK that can manage their mp and one that can, WHMs as well. WAR benefits more from TP during larger pulls, or WARs who overuse Overpower, and PLD doesn't really need tp unless he's spamming shield lob (happens often when aggro is lost) or it's an extended fight and he's not managing. Physical DPS benefit during AoE spam and caster DPS aren't an issue. PLD on large pulls can usually benefit from the mp, but it depends on the tank aggro vs the DPS aggro.

Depending on the type of content and the sort of issues I expect to run into based on the party, I can be holding onto/utilizing specific cards. Knowing the content I also know where to expect certain types of issues and I can be prepared. Again, not saying it was better the way it was, but it was unique to AST. I'm ok with the changes, but this one in particular wasn't my favourite.

As for the bubble, I'm in the habit of playing with newbies and randoms, helping to clear content. Running with a party that knows the ins and outs is somewhat foreign to me.
