Crafting is far harder in 3.0 than 2.0. Trust me. Casuals aren't making it far at all.

Half of them are still struggling their way through blue scrips and they hear about red scrips and are just like "No thanks".

It is too hard for a casual player, at least on my server to make much ground. Now, Gatherers, man they are the golden child right now. Having a gatherer or 2 at Lv60 is the most profitable thing you could do. But leveling a crafter without having a gatherer and other crafters is just too hard and too expensive.

Say a casual has 500k. If it cost them 10k to do 1 Blue Scrip craft and get 150k exp, then at lv 58 when they need like 3M exp, they are gonna have to do 20 crafts. That's 200k Right there, now they can gather that instead if they have the gatherer's, but if they don't well then they are screwed.

Prices are not gonna go down anytime soon, they hit the base level. Previously when you got Lv50 on a class, you really didn't need to worry too much about making the Lv40 and Lv30 crafts and could focus on 1 and 2 star unhindered. But that is not the case now, now you have every from lv50 to 60 competing for the same mats, every week, and a lot of them. Gatherer's keeping their mats instead of unloading them, and gatherer's not having the time to collect the less worthwhile mats since there is always a node up that needs to be mined.

one other thing we need is more information on materias , some of these crafted gears are not as good as ilvl 180 ones without proper melds , take main tools for example with 5 IV materia melded on them , they either miss 3 craftsmanship or 4 CP just to be at same lvl of ilvl 180! same goes for all the chest pieces (10%-29% success chance on overmelding IV? no thanks)
so far had no luck with transmuting materias to higher grade spending so many materia in bonfire!

I'm surprised more people don't complain about melding/over melding with its awesome RNG.

Can't complain about melding when there's nothing to meld and no grade V materia to meld with.

Main hand is really the only one that is very difficult to make better than the red scrips equivalent. The rest of the pieces don't require tier 5 materia or massive melding to surpass the red scrip gear.

You know, I remember everyone's response to 4 star books being "it's too hard," "the mats are way too expensive!" and other such things. To which, Naoki responded with wishing to make crafting - and gathering - more accessible in Heavensward. To which, you know, I was a little saddened by it. I liked getting my Weaver's 4 star book, and all other master books for other crafts(except the 4 star books) I liked knowing I was one of very few people who had the 4 star book, and I did a lot to get there. In fact, it was so tough, and at times I was so deterred by the RNG of Intricate Silver Brocades that I decided more than once that I would quit. Luckily 20%, 22% and 58% were enough and I finally got the book.

But Naoki said he wanted to make crafting more accessible, and honestly I looked forward to that all the same. New crafts, new housing items(as an FC Leader this was something I was extremely looking forward to) and glamours. Maybe crafting wouldn't scare some of my more conservative members in Heavensward, which I try my best to encourage others to take up.

But, as we all know, the word 'accessible' is not the word we would choose for how things have gone with Heavensward. Blue Scrips themselves have turned into a 'waste thousands, perhaps even tens or hundreds of thousand of gil and get given barely a respectable amount of scrips' business. And then they decide to turn crafting into a weekly expert dungeon run, except it takes more than half an hour a day, and costs you hundreds of thousands or even millions of gil depending on your class and whether you have gathering to 51+. Also Fishing is still as useless as it was in A Realm Reborn(I don't include the Zodiac Relic, that was put there far too soon and too conveniently for it to even matter in the slightest).

The only positive gain from Heavensward crafting is the ability to circumvent A Realm Reborn crafting book stat requirements with Heavensward gear. But they sell almost all gear required for levequests to quickly level yourself to 60, spitting on what it actually means to level crafting. (And don't get me started on levelling gathering classes just by standing still for a whole day.)

There is no way crafting has been made more accessible. Unless Eorzea is actually Great Britain and Naoki Yoshia is actually David Cameron supporting the big corporations/Crafting FCs that can actually do this. But myself, and others I know with such money to do things like this are refusing to do so on principle, so good luck.

I'm doubtful that there is a viable way. It's possible. So is someone walking up and giving me purified coke HQ for no reason.

But that is entirely because I'm considering "readily repeatable" to be a far more important part then "it worked once". Until you can repeat something 70% of the time or more, it's not even in the running. And with the specialist system ... well, I've heard rumors of people doing well with it? I've never actually SEEN it happen. And my own experience with testing the abilities out was so bad I took off the crystal.. the crafting RNG for good/excellent really seems to be downhill, and the math for heart of x (what with the crazy cp cost) seems ... iffy.

one week wait, grind and work , reclaim failed on first try (only 5 stack of inner quiet) lost all materials for a sharpened adamantite awl , stop whining people, its challenging, hard and fair as it should be. /sarcasticface

i still wonder why specialist system is not as "special" as it should be,there is so much potential in it. it even helps in solving the "issue" of omnicrafters if they just restrict recipe books to the soul of the crafters. so many options and reasons that can make people more interested in this system and make it more useful , things like 5% more melding success chance when melding items from that class , or few % of HQ base progress for recipes bellow lvl 60 for that crafting class. many ways to affect it!

I actually expecting each specialist class to have unique skills and traits. I forget that it even exists most of the time. It's kind of sad that the skills you get prior to unlocking specializations have had more impact on end game crafting than the actual specialist actions.

I kinda lost faith in the specialisation thing back with desynthing. Everything was on a fairly even keel (from what i was reading in my craft and gathering LS) and then they added the wedding stuff that could be desynthed. If you had made the right choice and picked LTW for desynth, then great for you; but if you'd picked WVR, then pay twice as much gil for the same chance.

I loved fishing so CUL desynth was a no-brainer for me. I made a load of gil when they added the swimsuits and kinda loved and hated it. When I finally caught a few of the fish, and none of them desynthed into a swimsuit, it was such a down, but when they did desynth into a swimsuit piece it was a huge high and I then got a second high from it when one of those rare pieces sold. I also totally understood when Yoshi said that they had made a mistake* and made those glamour pieces too difficult to get because so many players wanted them. I was happy to keep fishing for the fish and hoping on the RNG if it was made slightly better. Unfortunately, what they did was go from a (guessing) 1 in 10 chance of a successful desynth to a 9 in 10 chance so the price did, literally, drop by 90% almost over night.

*and after typing that, I thought of what they are doing with the current most wanted glamour! They have done a complete 180 on the previous change. The Thavnarian gear currently costs (on my server) three times the price of a Sea Breeze Pareo before it was nerfed. Now the RMT spam is going to annoy me again, because they seem to be encouraging it by making things ridiculously rare, which makes them hugely expensive.
