If its dead then why are all the major progression groups suddenly buying up all the gear they can so that they can meld more favorable stats onto it to push through Savage Alex? You might want to rethink your definition of the term "dead." I also don't have to have a craft at 60 to see the pattern or understand how something works. Do you seriously not remember oaknots and how they "killed" crafting?

Oh really? I didn't know the major progression groups are buying up all the gear. Do you mind telling me which gears so i can actually craft them and make some gil? Can you tell me which stats they are melding on to it because right now Accuracy, Determination, Critical materias are pretty darn cheap on my server now and about 20k each. Your server must be really quick on this system of red scrips since i ASSUME you have i180 crafted gear on your server and abundance of V materia to try and cap them? Honestly do you even do progression in the Savage Alex to know that the i180 crafted gear is crap? Heck you don't even have a hive weapon to start with. Please back it up with some info first before you complain about other people whining about red scrips that got nothing to do with you at all.

I have a spare character on Leviathan (I should really bring her to Siren and consolidate my resources since she's 50 across all DoH and DoL, but w/e), so I took a look at the market board. Grand total of zip on sale, or been sold. It's on a lot of people's wishlists though, so lol. Could you be more specific about what's being bought and how you're privy to this information? But for now, let's just assume that's true. The bleeding edge market is extremely limited, and more importantly, fleeting. Since savage Alex uses the first sensible loot system devised in this game, players are assured i200 upgrades within a reasonable timeframe, in addition to their i200 from eso tomes. The very few players that would buy left side i180, if any of it existed, won't have interest in it for very long.

I'm comforted to know that many of you have the same gripes as I do for crafting. I chose crafting and gathering from 2.0 because I enjoy them immensely, especially gathering. Though gathering isn't all that different, the crafting changes is what also hit me very hard.

I can't believe they gated everything so badly with Regional Folklore and Blue/Red Scrips. I leveled LTW, WVR, and BSM in order to make most of my own gear, but after finding out what was needed for the 2 Star Mastercrafts for DoH gear, I'm seriously as dejected as the rest of you. The Red Scrip turn-ins for DoH gear are not worth it (to me), and penta-melding is already painful enough without having to spiral into bankruptcy for hideously rare materials. The materia system itself is just horrendous. For all the work put into producing the Mastercrafts, couldn't they come with 5 whole materia slots for us to toy with? No, we'll still have to crawl our way through the thorns to make them and then eat shards of glass to meld them.

DoH and DoL was great since it was a different progression than the gating for DoW/M, but now it's worse than Esoterics and/or Alexander grinding. I might still get all the Master Book 3s. Also, if Law tomes and GC seals could buy the materials needed for the new 1 and 2 Star mastercrafts, that would have been immensely helpful since both currencies are largely useless unless you have a lot of combat classes to gear.

I don't want to hate doing what I like so much. I even considered quitting over this, but I know so many good people that I'd miss. I'm just so crushed alongside you guys.

Crafting and gathering, to me, was like a pastime for all of us. We do it because we love the niches and it *doesn't* break our soul. But not anymore.

I simply gave up on crafting I refuse to use a alarm clock to gather all that stuff up for the red scrips and for the stuff i might be able to craft in days or weeks... I really loved gathering and crafting and i didnt mind gathering these 99HQ once an hour for days... But the moment i realized what came with red scrips i stoped pushing my final 3 crafts to 60. Its just not worth the time and the money... Sadly, i loved being able to gather up and craft everything i needed without having to wait for a FC member or friend to do it for me :'(

Indeed. I could only make one item this week, as I'm unable to collect enough materials needed for a second item. Being capped at making one item a week is rather harsh.

I have had 450 red crafter scrips since 30 mins after the patch and not managed to get enough of the favor items to get any mats...

I don't gather and people will likely say "haha hard luck lvl gathers newb", but I am a crafter, I have no wish to gather.

The only way I'd be able to spend all my crafting scrips is if I spent x3 to get the HQ mats. I'm sitting on an off hand and 250 red crafting scrips. At this rate I'll never be gearing my gatherer except with crafted right side gear.

I'm guessing there will be a market for selling excess favor mats, but it's hard to put a price on something with a weekly limit.

That was probably the idea, that you can buy from other gatherers/crafters. The problem is that most people have no interest in selling favor items. They gather favors for their own crafts or save the red scrips for gear upgrades. Some put favor mats on the market board for insane prices, just in case that some rich person has too much gil, but i see almost 0 transactions happening for the 3.0.5 stuff so far.

yeah thats the sad thing about this system, getting red scrips on crafter is easy, but then youre forced to gather 11 hours a week.

I have to correct you. Gather A LOT MORE than 11 hours a week since you would need to account the amount of time getting the red scrips. I had barely time to craft or to raid anymore.

And actually, what i think the saddest thing is with the changes is the lack of attention we are getting from Yoshida or the Dev Team.
