Can we scrap this system where we can only gear up one class for many months before gearing alts? Why cant the new tomes be 450 week for each class instead of 1? So say I reach the cap for my main, I can grind my alt/alts to get their caps.

But if there aren't caps, people would gear out in a day and stop subbing.........
For real though Yoshida needs to change.
Idk if you are being for real? but if you are i agree the way it is keeps ppl playing and keeps us doing something everyone knows there are bum rushers out there and if there was no cap they be done by weeks end. And posting on here saying i need more to do waaa waa waa
Am I the only one who sees the inherent problem in this line of thinking? But if there aren't caps, people would gear out in a day and stop subbing...
If your game's only real purpose is gear acquisition or people stop playing, then perhaps your design philosophy is garbage.
One would think you would seek to design a game that is simply fun to play for people and that people legitmately enjoy being in... not needing to rely on caps and lockouts to keep your players around. That's like being married and locking your wife inside the house when you leave for work so she doesn't leave you.
And if you're a player who only plays the get the next best and then stop.. in my OPINION, you're playing for the wrong reasons.
Note: my usage of you is general, not directed.
So have all jobs at ilvl200+ within a small time period? Don't think that is happening and an extremely overwhelming grind within a week's time.
You save a game in it's entirety, then get nothing but flak for the creation you worked so hard to fix, and not be even a little salty about it. Lol
But you're right...Yoshida needs to change a little...
Why are you in such a hurry to gear up?

I'm not in a hurry, I'm a multi-classer and that's the unique thing about this game that keeps me playing, and it's the back-of-the-box feature that was touted so heavily to entice players like me. From the outset of 2.0 and onwards however the actual design has been contradictory in how limited players like myself are in acquiring (and storing!) the gear we'd like to get, and for me at least that causes a decent amount of stress in trying to plan out upgrades.
Ultimately frustrations of players like me are just handwaved and dismissed by comments like this, or by people saying "you don't need it." And that's not wrong, because it's really not required to have BiS all the time to be effective as a player. It is, however, nonetheless annoying to feel artificially limited for 6+ months at a time from getting what you'd like (even just for vanity) because of the low caps and high costs.
I'm not quitting over it anytime soon because I'm still having fun, and I actually like that there's a decent amount of gear variety right now, but I do hope they eventually ease up on their content gating in the future or I can see myself deciding I'm not enjoying the way it's implemented. It's not about "having" to do it, it's about wanting to and enjoying it. I wouldn't be quitting once I had my gear; I'd be moving on to the myriad of other long-term goals I want to accomplish.
Edit: To include, before someone tells me, that yes I know the gear will eventually be available cheaply. I tend to plan my purchases around jobs I play heavily first and vanity second. I don't feel limited in the ability to acquire the gear because eventually the tomestones required rain from the sky and there are plenty of ways to get upgrades. I just sometimes get grumpy about the time restrictions.
