I don't know what you mean by "registering". I don't understand much of what you said at all, really. The application process is what gives you a reference, since most of them (any of them worth their salt at least) will have a question about "Were you referred to this Linkshell, and by whom?"

Our linkshell app is simple. What's your name? What's your highest class? Who (if anyone) referred you? Why do you want to join us? What would you like to know about us before you join?

Nothing about demanding allegiance, listing past achievements, committing to hours of playtime per week. It's nothing more than a medium for introducing yourself to the LS and stating your desire to join.
