This is pretty much it, our app helps us figure out if you're a decent human being. We don't like kicking anyone if we can avoid it. Removing players causes all kinds of issues to begin with, sometimes issues that were not even there to begin with. It's a game and we just want to have fun.

    Ooo glorious bacon... *drools*

We have a question about pirates vs. ninjas vs. vampires vs. werewolves :P Should've put zombies in there too haha

What about applications can be vice versa? It can either help you or hurt you based on a personal experience. Word of mouth moves fast, but seeing action is a different story from one's view. For example, a bad experience can lead gamers causing defamation (aka slander) making faulty un supportive evidence of the player's activity.

But then again, registering would make more sense to have a reference than a useless application. My opinion would be to just speak with the person in game or on skype. Applications are just an excuse causing peer pressure. If I can type well in game, you don't need me to type so elegantly describing myself.

The way the linkshell admin options are (rather lacking), it would be a mess if there wasn't some sort of application. Not everyone works well together, and some applications are a way of finding that out before hand. If us linkshell masters have to kick someone, we really don't have a decent way of doing so in the game, but asking certain questions can prevent that when they applied to begin with.

At the moment, it's all we masters have to work with. There is pretty much no linkshell admin control in XIV unless the member is online and standing near you (which in my book, is stupid). There is no way to take inactive members off the linkshell list without destroying the linkshell and reforming again (I've done this once already...). There is a cap to how many members a linkshell to have.

    Funny, hearing this from you.

I don't know what you mean by "registering". I don't understand much of what you said at all, really. The application process is what gives you a reference, since most of them (any of them worth their salt at least) will have a question about "Were you referred to this Linkshell, and by whom?"

Our linkshell app is simple. What's your name? What's your highest class? Who (if anyone) referred you? Why do you want to join us? What would you like to know about us before you join?

Nothing about demanding allegiance, listing past achievements, committing to hours of playtime per week. It's nothing more than a medium for introducing yourself to the LS and stating your desire to join.

You forgot to mention your Ls enforces people to go to events or they'll get a personal advisory for missing an event. I don't want that. I choose to play FFXIV to be a casual game not someone who (not you) is a pencil pusher demanding me to do things that I set my time between work & gaming.

Instead of applications, you can speak to them online and get to know them. Asking questions online is no different than an applications. In my opinion, describing your self and answering questions for LS masters only makes the masters life easier to bring members in, where as the applicant does more work.

    No thank you.

Once again, that's not true at all.

Except that not all of the people involved in deciding who gets pearled or not can be online to talk to the person at the same time. We have LS officers from all over the world.

If it's too difficult for a person to type quick answers to five simple questions, then yes, we don't want them in our LS, because that type of laziness tends to permeate to everything a person does.
